The Blue Mountains are about two hours West of Sydney, N.S.W. by car or electric train.

As this picture taken at the Visitors Centre in Katoomba shows, the Blue Mountains have been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site.

With softer rock eroded underneath, the harder rock on top leaves steep cliffs and canyons.

These columns and pillars are completely natural in origin.

Beautiful as they are, these mountains provided a major obstacle to bringing not only agricultural goods but also the minerals from Broken Hill to Sydney Harbour.

Taking linch in Katoomba itself, there were again the ringneck parrots.
