Advocacy
The first meetings of the TCCC were a success,
We are a small but mighty group!!
We decided several things:
1) We will function under the name of "Candlelighters" as it is already established, carries some weight and is a functioning non-profit organisation.
2) We will concentrate on raising awareness and education in our first year.
3) We will establish our presence this year at all local "cancer awareness" events.
4) Our first project will be to produce the book "In Our Own Words" to be presented to local Senators and Congressmen at Survivor Days in September.
5) We will seek help for a letter writing campaign for a "Childhood Cancer Stamp"
6) We will seek help for a letter writing campaign to make sure Childhood Cancer Month recieves nationwide media coverage.
Gold Ribbon Days
June 14-17
Washington DC.

This is a great opportunity to meet other families from all over the country.  It is a chance to tell your story and help spread awareness of childhood cancer.
At last years event, the key note speaker at opening
ceremonies was the First Lady Laura Bush. She          spoke about the Presidents personal experience with childhood cancer.  At the age of 10 the President lost his three year old sister Robin to leukemia.
Please consider a trip to Washington for Gold Ribbon Days. If you wish to take this trip, and will need finacial assistance.  Join us for one of the meetings at Gilda's club in early April as we discuss potential fundraising.
