The number one cause of death of our children is cancer, and the second leading cause of death is poisoning. Children are the most vulnerable, because toxins gather at floor level where children spend more of their time as they grow up. Little children and new born babies breathe three times faster than adults.

Why expose babies to toxins when they have not yet developed their detoxification systems? Until a child is about 13 months of age, they are not able to fight the biological and neurological effects of toxic chemicals. Even though adults are at great risk in a toxic environment, the developing cells of children are far more susceptible to damage than adult cells, which are fully developed. Children, from conception through adolescence, are dangerously vulnerable to environmental hazards.

The statistics of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD or ADD) are alarming: in 1993, 4.5 million children took Ritalin, a powerful Class-2 narcotic drug, so they could sit still in the classroom. Where parents have used pesticides in the home or garden before the children's birth, there is an increased risk for leukemia. (In fact, since the addition of pesticides into household products, there has been a 28 percent increase in childhood cancer.)

A congressional subcommittee authorized the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) to conduct a 15-year research program to study indoor air-quality in the U.S. They found that women who worked at home had a 54 percent higher death rate from cancer than women who worked elsewhere. The alarming conclusion of the study: this higher death rate was from daily exposure to dangerous chemicals found in common household products.

Asthma in the last ten years has increased over 40 percent. Women in the home had an increase of asthma of over 80 percent, while men who work away from the home had only a 29 percent asthma increase. The EPA concluded that this was the result of women being in the toxic environment in their homes more than men.

The cancer rate 100 years ago was one in 8,000. Today, it is one out of every two persons. This correlates with the Industrial Revolution and with the increase in the use of toxic chemicals.

It is not only cancer that is caused by toxicity. There are hundreds of problems related to toxicity such as migraine headaches, fatigue, allergies, asthma, ADHD or ADD, learning disabilities, infertility, lack of brain function such as clarity of thinking, confusion, forgetfulness, inability to concentrate, and the list goes on and on. According to the EPA, toxic poisons may even mirror the common cold and flu with the exact same symptoms.
