Bald Head Island's (BHI) Official Website is:
After a day and a half sail, our four boats arrived at the BHI marina at 1400 on 25 May.  The marina sent a staff member down to help us tie off and direct us to the manager.
That evening, a Hatteras 65 pulled in next to us.  What a boat!  The captain and crew were friendly, offering us tours and drinks.  After dinner (steaks on the grill), we went through the yacht together.  Awesome!
Day two found Crescendo going out for some off shore action.  Mark wanted to sail.  Steve (Margon's skipper) rented a golf cart so the crews of Margon and Scallywag went exploring the island.

We went to "Old Baldy" the lighthouse.  Of course, we had to climb to the top.
Then, we drove to the store for provisions.  Luckily, we ran across a free picnic hosted by the BHI realtor's association.  They'd hired a band to play Jimmy Buffet songs.  That, with free burgers and beer: how cool is that?!  We stayed for a couple  hours.
Back at the docks, we discovered Cresendo coming back in.  Quest had unexpectedly set out early for home.
Our attention was soon diverted by an all-you-can-eat buffet hosted by the marina as part of the Memorial Day festivities.  There was shrimp, oysters, chicken, steak, and tables full of side dishes.  I gained 5 pounds!
We were all exhausted that evening!

Sadly, two of the boats had to start home the next day.  Crescendo and Scallywag made ready to get underway at 0800.

Pristine, Unspoiled Beaches
Under engine, we beat into the Cape Fear river current for a few hours that morning.  Once through Snow's Cut though, we picked up the sea breeze on a starboard tack and sailed north.  We made it to marker BC/89 behind Sunset Beach, NC that evening.
The final day, May 28th, we woke at sunrise.  Just as the coffee was ready, a school of dolphins surrounded the boat.  It was as if they'd come to wish us well as we headed back to home and our landward tasks.
Five hours later, Scallywag was tied up at MCAS New River's marina..
