SUMMARY OF FATHER'S DAY RACE IN 2006 |
Doc races his daughter's boat, a San Juan 21, on Father's day. (Not sure if it's to honor the Father's day tradition or if it's because it's a lighter boat and much better for the mild winds at this time of year.) Anyway, it doesn't have an engine, so I towed him out to a point that he had room to tack to the starting line. |

My crew: Had two members again, this time a couple old salty marine retirees. Put an old gunner, a SgtMaj, and a retired SNCO on the same boat with a couple cases of beer, and what do you get? ALLOT of BS! Naw, they're great guys! No picture of John Holmes, the SgtMaj. I'll upload one when I can. |

At the start of the race, the fleet looked like they were in the doldrums. No one moved for 30 minutes. When the race finally did get underway, we blazed the course at an average speed of 1.3 mph. |

Not much to say about this race. We physically came across the line tied for third, but because of PHRF ratings wound up in fifth of seven. The Krusty Krab performs as good as any boat in light winds. I think I need to tighten the shrouds and fly a different jib to be competitive in heavy wind. We'll see... Doc won the race. (See the comment above). |
