New River marina: With the help of friend, Sally Campbell, I set sail for Swan Point marina (about 30 miles downriver along the Intercoastal waterway (ICW)).  Planned for a three to six hour cruise depending on when we sailed and when we ran the engine.  The plan was to drop off Sally, anchor off, then pull into the marina and get hauled at 7:00am the next morning

Spring Race Season: The Ragged Point Yacht Club: http://hamii.sytes.net/RPYC/ had a somewhat rough spring season due to weather and some of its participants occupied with other things.  Still, the Krusty Krab managed to make a few of the races.  Details below:

St Patty's Day Race: Finished a blazing 7th out of 9 boats.  Oh well, at least we finished.  After all of the repairs done to the boat last year, I'm happy to have her seaworthy and somewhat stretching the envelope by racing.  Still have a long way to go to be competitive: tune rigging, replace some standing rig, etc.

The April Fools' Day race didn't go so well.
We had a GREAT start and were in third as we approached the first marker.  Sadly, that's when we ran hard aground, just north of marker 46.
The boat was heeled over nicely and we were drafting about 3.5 feet when we hit.  The Krusty Krab drafts 5 feet when upright.  As the sails came down, the keel dug into the bottom   We were eventually towed off, but not before breaking both bow cleats, damaging the fiberglass.
Then, once off the shoal, we fired the engine.  Well, the tow boat had silted up the water with sand.  The sand got sucked into the impeller and into the engine, causing it to overheat and seize up.
What's the saying, "There's no such thing as a bad day sailing...."?  Wasn't true that day.  Wish I would have stayed on the dock.

The Father's Day Race:  We actually held our own, finishing tied for third in the first heat.  Had company in town and had to withdrawl before the second heat finished.

The Krusty Krab didn't have a good showing in the Welcome to Summer Race.  There were two heats.  In the first, we came across the line with three other boats.  All four of us were trying to edge out the others.
The second race didn't go so well.  We fell WAY behind and came in dead last overall.  As long as we had fun.....
