As I said in my Oct - Dec 2008 log, my VERY best friend in the whole world, Gail, visited from Oklahoma!.  We've know each other since about the 8th grade (up in Hamburg, NY), but just recently were reunited.

She stayed for the weekend and we had a blast in everything we did, from grocery shopping to walking..  There was a lot of time spent talking about where we'd each been the past 20 years, our respective lives, and our dreams for the future.

It really was great to see how much we had in common.

First time Sailing
Waiting for me to cook dinner
There she is, glass of wine, waiting for me to finish dinner.
Brave girl to eat my cooking!!!
Gail had never been sailing before.  So, on a cool fall morning, we slipped the lines and took Big Kahuna out for a run up the Potomac.  Gail was concerned about sea-sickness, but my boat handles well.  Big Kahuna was built for cruising and she's as stable as can be.  We never heeled more than 10 degrees.
Gail even took the wheel for a little while so I could go forward and check sails or below and grab a drink.
It wasn't a great day for sailing, but the company couldn't have been better!
At the Wheel
Sadly, all great things come to an end.
Before she got on the plane back to Oklahoma, I made her go on a walk with me around the little town of Quantico.
We walked along the little beack/park, up through the town, and down a road to nowhere...haha!
Along the way we looked at wildflowers and anything that interested us.
A stranger, fishing on the pier was nice enough to take this picture of us.

All in all, it was a weekend to remember!  One of the best in my life!
