A new name that was appropriate, fun, and just felt right finally popped up! To all Sailors wherever ye may be, and to all sand blasted, flea bitten, salts of the seven seas; know ye that from this date forward, Coronado 35 hull #088, shall be know as "Big Kahuna". Let old names such as Latitudes and Neva be forgotten as the vessel enters into a new era of prosperity and good fortune. Libations have been offered to the Gods of wind, and Mighty Neptune. And, a new name and hailing port have been inscribed on the transom as befits a boat of her status.

A lot happened during September though none of it was sailing related. September was a predominantly a maintenance month. I did finally get to move the boat inside the marina proper. From the time we moved to Quantico, until now, we had been tied up on the outside of the jetty. Living like Gilligan, we had no lights, no power, not a single luxury! We are now in slip C-27. It is GREAT to have electricity! I installed a new microwave. See my projects page:

My criteria when shopping for a new boat: 1) She had to 35ft or longer for stability. 2) She had to have a good engine. This one is a new Westerbeke 35 (only 2.5 hours on it). 3) She had to have good sails. There's a brand new genoa 150 aboard. And, 4) She had to be shoal draft. This boat drafts only 3'9". AWESOME! So, say hello to "NEVA", my Coronado 35. That's the last owner's name. I'll change it when a good one strikes me. I know what you're thinking, "You got a 35 for only $10k?" That's right! She's a project, but mechanically sound and sailable.
