Our Story

Frank T. Amore, second oldest son of Theresa and Charles Amore, first generation Italian immigrants{ she from Naples and he from Calbria, Italy} founded Pasta Amore in 1956. Frank got his beginnings at Amore’s Market on Central Ave. in Minneapolis where amongst other grocery items, he started selling homemade pizzas and pasta. His love of family, people and delicious food was the perfect combination to launch him from grocer to restaurateur.

The restaurant started as a small storefront where Frank worked side- by-side with his mom who was affectionately known as Liz to family and friends. The two of them developed the family recipes we all enjoy still today. Some of us are lucky enough to have fond memories as little ones seeing Frank and Liz in the kitchen hand rolling meatballs and pinching the dough to make gnocchi while the signature red tomato sauce simmered on the stove.

The whole Amore family participates in the annual tradition of Pasta Amore at the Fair. The Minnesota State Fair is the largest state fair in the country. Located right across from the famous Grandstand, Pasta Amore offers fair goers hot pizza by the slice and bucket of rigs, Italian egg roll, huge servings of garlic bread and much more. Pasta Amore has been a favorite destination for fair goers for over 30 years.

From its inception Pasta Amore has been dedicated to providing its delicious homemade, hand prepared Italian cuisine and creating memorable experiences with food. Today the menu is reflective of our modern busy lifestyle without having lost the fresh ingredients and passion which has made Pasta Amore so popular.
