| The Nun can always be seen wearing the outfit to the left. These are the standard robes of a Buddhist nun. Those people who know about Buddhism will recognize the colors of her robes as belonging to the Chan sect of Buddhism from China. Their central temple being the Shao Lin Temple in central China. As an interesting side note, Chan Buddhism later become known as "Zen" once it mades its way to Japan. On the front part of her head, she has nine small dots. These represent the things that the nun has given up to become a nun. They are small burn scars made by incense during the religious ceremony ordaining her as a nun. | ||||||||||||||||

| The nun with her classmates at the temple school, when she was young. | ||||||||||||||||
| Most people only know her as "The Buddhist Nun," but her real name is Lei Fengbao. Her original name was long forgotten. Her parents left her on the steps of the Shaolin Temple School with a little money when she was four years old. For a time, at the school she was given a name just like all the other monks and nuns take on when they join the Chan sect of Buddhism. When she was older, however, during one of her more rigorous martial arts training sessions, she Awakened. That was when she saw many of the past lives she had lived (or at least the lives her Avatar had been connected with). Her master, a member of the Akashic Brotherhood, gave her a new name that day, and she disgarded the one given her as a nun. In English, her new name, Lei Fengbao, means "Thunder and Suddenly Violent Wind." Her visions had shown her that during most of her earlier incarnations the Lei was a Vajrapani warrior who fought, during several lifetimes, in the war between the Euthanatos and the Akashics. The only problem with that war as that both the Akashics and the Euthantos believed in reincarnation. Because of this, she gathered a gread deal of karmic debt during those lifes. Both for killing and for having been killed. It was not until her last few lifetimes that she gave up the warrior way and put on the robes of the Kannagara and took up the vocation of a healer. As a healer she has undone a lot of the debt that she gained in her past lives. But there is still much work to be done. Not long ago some Buddhist monks from America sent word to the Temple asking for a skilled healer to help them open a clinic for the public. Lei's master felt that since many Akashics and Euthanatos mages were being re-born into Western bodies, that Lei might have an opportunity to come to terms with more of her karma by going to the West. So he sent her to help these monks. When she got to the Golden Temple in Necro city, she found it strangely abandoned. There were no monks that she could find at all. The temple itself was in disorder, weeds grew on the grounds, wood rotted in the buildings. Lei saw this as a message from her karma. So she remained and with her bare hands, weeded the grounds, fixed the wood, and rebuilt the temple. Since that time, she has been looking for followers, but few have shown up. She has been successful in opening up the clinic, and treats people for free on the temple grounds. She is trained in medicine, and while she understands Western medicine, her talents lie in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. When not at the temple, she can usually be found practicing martial arts in the park, or volunteering at the local homeless shelter. Recently the nun has opened a martial arts studio separate from the Golden Temple. She hopes to attract a student there who has the potential to Awaken and become the next great Akashic mage. She feels she is ready and is looking forward to teaching someone in the ways of Do. I now have the Nun's character sheet up. Check it out here! I now have an outline of the Golden Temple here: Golden Temple. A note about the Golden Temple: The Temple was, at one point, one of the many rooms availabe within the chats. It's since been removd, but lives on within this SL. For those of you who had your own SL involving the Temple, I'm happy to try and resolve any SL conflicts if you want our characters to interact. |
