This part of my web site devotes itself to my
friends and family. My family can be divided into two categories, my blood relations and
my College family.
My College family is a group of exceptional
students, whom all call me either "mom" or "ma". I earned this
nickname from my roommates. At the time there were more than one Micheles living in our
apartment, so it was decided that we needed nicknames. After about a week of trying to
agree on nicknames, one of my roommates suggested that everyone call me mom, because I was
usually the one in the apartment that nagged everyone to go to class, clean up after
themselves and so on. Within a few weeks the nickname caught on and has held. Since this
started, a number of my "kids" finally got their fraternity charted for this
campus, and they unofficially elected me to be their fraternity mom. Any reference to my
kids in this site refers not to my biological kids, but to the dear friends who have
decided to love and treat me as a mom.
