| What an entertaining movie! War of the Worlds was a great Summer movie. Full of special effects, comedy and a good story with none of that romance crap. In case you are unaware War of the Worlds is about aliens taking over the world. The movie is loosely based on Wells' book. It has the same basic principals but if it was just like the book it would've been boring. Believe me I read it. The special effects were great and you forget that they are effects even if what was happening was fatastical. The aliens themselves were cool looking and even got a laugh with some well placed props. I was amazed at how much anger you build up towards these aliens who have so cruelly come to visit. So I can understand a persons disappointment at the end but it's like the book. I love the take of a regular persons reactions to an alien invasion (whereas it's usually the governments point of view as they try to figure out how to get rid of them (independenceday)) it makes you wonder what you'd do and if you'd survive if you were in that situation. Tom Cruise was amazing as usual and was quite funny offering lots of laughs in the early parts of the film. Robbin' character was great, totally deplorable and acted splendidly. Dakota Fanning was quite annoying but I guess you can't blame her they did just blow up NYC. It's always NY why not Washington thats where the president is but I guess theres not enough skyscrapers or crazy New Yorkers to blow up. Anyway, I highly suggest you see this movie. It's a movie anyone can watch and appreciate and enjoy. |
