I'm sure that if you're not living under a rock you've heard of this movie starring Will Ferrell. Ferrell plays a soccer coach for his son's team who takes the game too far and comedic things ensue.
My first reaction to this film was "it's cute" because that's exactly what it is. It's great for mom and dad to bring little Johnny and Susie too. The movies aimed at kids as is the humor. Usually with kids movies you get little jokes only adults would get but there's not much (besides the coffee bit) and what there is falls flat. Then again most jokes fall flat. Now, I love Will Ferell but just about every line he delivers is either missing something or is way over the top. ( I know that's his thing but it doesn't work here, maybe for the kids.) Even when seasoned actor Robert Duvall delivers a line you're waiting for the comedic laugh track to help guide you through this film. Something to yell at you "this is funny".
Overall, Kicking and Screaming was a cute entertaining movie that you shouldn't spend more than five dollars on. See it if you want a nice giggle but don't expect to be rolling in your seat. |
