Web of the Spider

Anthony Franciosa's a dream come true. Klaus is a nightmare.
"A Classic Tale of Horror!"

The following review/rebuttal was written by guest critic Ol' Stinky, Lil' Stinky's even smellier mother.

Web of the Spider is a horror flick for ladies who truly appreciate a REAL man. Anthony Franciosa's machismo overwhelms the fear he must endure while spending the night in a haunted castle.

I beg to differ with Lil' Stinky; the cliches made the film somewhat predictable, but at the same time, I would have been disappointed without them. There are certain expectations we want in a "haunted house" film, such as ghosts dancing, kissing (for Anthony Franciosa!), and the spirits causing their usual hokum. This is what makes a true haunted house believable.

As far as the acting goes, Klaus Kinski was a rather unusual choice for Poe; but he did work hard at his character. Franciosa, however, gives a good performance of fear (he's SOOO CUTE when he's terrified - and always manly).

Bottom Line: Though technically it wasn't the best, Web of the Spider does give you the creeps. It reminds me of the Haunted Mansion in Disney World (which used to scare Lil' Stinky to death!). Oh, and two thumbs up for Anthony. If you're out there, give me a ring - I'm single, looking and listed (but stop smoking those cigars - they're not good for your health!)
