When I was nine years old, my mom gave me a set of books that would
change my life forever. I started from the beginning with "Secret
of the Mansion" and I was hooked. I was just dying to see if the
girls would find Jim, and if they did, then what? What would
happen then?
My best friend and I read the series growing up. We used to play
"Trixie and Honey" together and go around the neighborhood looking for
mysteries. But, when you grow up and begin worrying about
grown-up life and problems, sometimes you let the books fall by the
wayside and before you know it, you've completely forgotten all about
it.
Then one day, back in January of 2001, I decided that I would type
"Trixie Belden" into a search engine and see what I could come up
with. Were there other fans out there? Not likely.
Everyone in the world except for me, Mom, and my friend read Nancy
Drew. It was just a fact that I'd have to live with. When I
hit "go" after typing in her name, I was amazed at what I found.
There really ARE other fans of Trixie Belden out there, and gleeps! they even have their own
homepage where they discuss the books in forums and everything.
Do you wanna know what knocked my socks off the most? Was it the
"Trixie paired with Dan" fanfic? No. Was it the "Trixie
paired with Regan" fanfic? No. It was the fact that they
even had conventions!!!
