My
thesis was on "An
Approach to Increase Data Transmission Capacity in Coaxial Cable
Communication System".
Abstract:
In this thesis work, an attempt has been made to investigate the
performance of a Coaxial Cable Communication System. The whole
work is done in three stages. In the first part, performances
with various sampling rates, line codes, error correction codes
and noises have been experimentally investigated using a baseband
digital data transmission simulator. In the second part, a MATLAB
simulator is developed to analyze a baseband signal transmission
system which employs coaxial cable as a transmission channel.
At this stage, effects of various line-codings on bit rate are
observed at a bit error rate of 10-6 for the Matched and Butterworth
filters.
In the last part of this thesis, Code Division Multiple Access
(CDMA) has been utilized to analyze the effect of providing multiple
access in a coaxial cable system. In this part MATLAB simulation
is extensively employed to investigate various aspects of a Coaxial
Cable Direct Sequence (DS) CDMA system. It is found that the ultimate
channel capacity can be increased by about 2.26 times, using DS
– CDMA technique with high chipping rate.
The simulators developed in the present thesis can simulate most
of the phenomena which arise in a coaxial cable based digital
communication system including Inter Symbol Interference, Channel
Impairments, effects of noises, effects of line codes and multiplexing
techniques etc. This software can evaluate the time and frequency
domain representations and eye patterns at various stages as well
as can plot various graphs of a coaxial cable based digital communication
system.

"An Approach
to Increase Data Transmission Capacity in Coaxial Cable using
DS–CDMA"
Abstract:
In this paper an attempt has been made to improve the
performance of a Coaxial Cable Communication System using direct
sequence code division multiple access (DS – CDMA). To do
this, the performance of a simple coaxial cable based baseband
signal transmission system is evaluated and compared with the
CDMA system keeping all the cable and system parameters unaltered.
In this analysis, NRZ line code is used, 3rd order Butterworth
filter is utilized as receiving filter and the receiver is considered
as thermal noise limited. Bit error rate (BER) is calculated using
the Gaussian Approximation. The effect of ISI, multiple access
interference (MAI) and thermal noise is considered. The numerical
results show that with increasing spreading factor, BER reduces
when bit rate and number of simultaneous user is kept constant.
At a BER of 10-6, the overall bit rate of the channel can be increased
upto 6 times or further depending on the CDMA parameters.

DIGITAL CODE SWITCH (with voice operation)
The
objective of this project is to design and implement a device
that will act as a switch which is able to be protected by a password.
Only the person who knows the password can be able to turn the
switch on. The password can be given by voice command using a
computer.
