We are pleased to introduce you to "Excalibur Louis Wain of Chaucer".
Louis is a British Longhair.
He is named in honour of "Louis Wain" the man who drew cats and
documented the British Longhair in the late 1800's.
Thank you Pam for our "special" boy!

Louis' parents are both British Shorthair's (carrying the LH gene recessively).
His parents are:
Sire:  RW Excalibur's Quincy
Dam:  CH Excalibur's Gwenny
Breeder:
Pamela Barrett - Excalibur Cattery
British LH's have been around since the late 1800's as evidenced by Louis Wain the 2nd President of the National Cat Club of London.  His drawings and books depicts these beautiful Longhaired cats along with the traditional Shorthairs.

The British LH is a unique as the British SH.  The LH coat is semi-long, standing away from the body.  The dense coat is even in length with a fluff-plush texture with ruff, britches and ear furnishings being desirable.  A long flowing "Persian" type coat is penalized.  Body structure is the same as the British SH with the only difference in the two being the length of the coat.

On Friday - September 03, 1999 in Jackson, Mississippi the TICA Board of Directors recognized and accepted the British LH for the NBC class.  No association in the Cat Fancy here in the US had every recognized these beautiful Longhairs until that day!
"Louis Wain" had the honour of being the first ever British LH to be shown in the NBC class at the Annual Show there in Jackson, MS.  TICA Judges received him with open arms and were very impressed with what they saw in him.  It was true he was British in every respect.

Our goal now is to get the British LH advanced to the Championship class where they rightfully belong!

"Louis Wain" continues to wow the Judges and spectators at every show he attends.  For information on upcoming shows that Louis will be at please
