When the Denver Nuggets shocked San Antonio in the first game of the NBA playoffs, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich took All-Star Manu Ginobili out of the starting lineup, hoping that he would provide a spark off the bench. That plan worked just fine and the Spurs won their next six games.
But after the Seattle SuperSonics shocked the Spurs not once, but twice, to even their Western Conference semi-final series at two wins apiece, Popovich re-inserted Ginobili into the starting lineup. That move worked to perfection on Tuesday night. Ginobili sparked the listless Spurs with a playoff-career high 39 points and 6 assists while lifting them to a 103-90 victory in Game 5.
