Greece

      Well after leaving Colorado arrived in Ireland. Some of me wife's relatives met me. Stopped off in Tralee capitol of County Kerry. After a nice lunch. Went to Cahirciveen a city near by to rest. Spent few days with wife's relatives then to Wexford to see me family. We visited few pubs, for a pint or two. Was good to have Irish food Lamb, Irish Bread and Irish potatoes.



      Took British Airlines to Athens. Met some friends Aesob (Male) and Selena(female) who live nearby in Lamia, then we went to a nice restaurant. Had (Barbounia (Red Mulletfish. We had Mezedes white wine while waiting, with fish soup. Nice salad of carrot, onions and tomatoes. Dessert was a nice custard called Bouqatsa. Then finished it off with Moraitis Paros excellent white.



      Went to their home, they are a young couple in their late 50s. Have a nice room and was told be prepared to be on the move, to see Greece from one end to the other. Aegean Sea not far with Turkey in the distance. After a big breakfast, stopped off in Lamia which dates back to 5th century. A lot of wars from 5thBC into 190BC Became a Greek State in 1929.

      Well on our way to Larisa. In Fira a large Castle sits upon the mountains. The Pinios River. Very busy railroads for fruit wheat vegetables and tobacco. Changed hands many times did suffer a lot of damage from 1841 earthquakes and the Germans. Walked around crossed a bridged over the Pinios River. Then drove to Meteora.



      Visited a lot of Metor rocks some very high. Got lovely pictures. Visited a Monastery called Roussaneou. They lived by pulling supplies up a rope. Now a convent. Seen a beautiful picture of Saint Nicholas Anapafsa. Alot of beautiful pictures, especially Varlaans Monastery way up in the mountains.



      Now on our way to Mt. Olympus. Spent some nights in different towns. Mt Olympus is called Oros Olimbus (9576 feet.) Has rich flora all around. Home to the 12 Olympians. Great pictures I got. some nice pictures. Mytikas is highest peak in Greece.



      Home to the Greek Gods Zeus king of the Gods, Hera his wife, brothers Poseidon, Hades sister of Demeter and Hesha children Apollo, Artemis area Aphrodite, Athena, Hermer and Hephaestur all in ancient times. Got a lot of information from the Gift shops and libraries. No desire to climb Mt Olympus.



      Now heading for Thessaloniki for some rest. Stayed at the Herakima Beach Hotel on Aegean Sea, got swimming trunks after nice swim, had a nice supper of Seafood, green vegetables potatoes and nice desert of banana cake wine, was house wine.



      Well here in Thessaloniiki Greeces 2nd largest city. Its almost like a college town with a couple universitys. We stayed at Hotel Makedonia near the Aegean Sea. And has everything A party celebrating at the hotel celebrating 25th anniversary threw a party. Nice Band of Greek music.



      Everyone was dressed in Greek costumes, so went got me Kilts on, so like the men we were properly dressed. They did Zorba The Greek, of course I was involved. Glad we all held hands, just move our feet. So I was held up. Aesob got me a drink, look like white syrup, took a small sip and knew it was not, The party really got going and the Greeks love to dance and they do fast dances. Glad I was sitting.
