BULGARIA

      Well after leaving Sofia headed for Nidin and a nice room .For 33 Euros very cheap. Did passed through the city of Montana (that's right)Nice supper of a Green Salad, Urnabest (Pork Tongue) in butter, carp, bread Home made Biscuits, cake, goats milk. Nice glass of Dimyat Wine. Sat outside over the Danube River observing locals.

      Eggs and the works for breakfast. Vidin founded 23 centuries Visited old Roman fort. Alot of places through out Bulgaria up for sale. Im not sure when think times are bad. After lunch in Kozloui headed by Mt. Botev through Koprivshtitsa to Piovdiv for rest, 2nd largest city.

      Have room near Maritsa River. Dafi Hotel is me stay for a few days. Rooms in Bulgaria very reasonable. Im in center of town for 39 Euros. With mixed salad, bean soup, Pleshavitcu (ground pork with yellow cheese, bacon pickled cucumber, ice cream with honey and walnuts, glass of Gamza wine.

      Now off to Library for history lesson then later to check historical places. Kendros, Eumolpia, Philippolis, Pulpudevo, Thrimonzium, Pulden, Populdin, and Filibe are ancient names of Plovdiv is a 15th century city. Macedonias, Romans Huns Byantiums ,Germans, Russians. Freedom came in 1989.

      Visited Roman Stadium, Roman Theater, Church of Christ Pantoerator, Troyon Monastery. So many historical places. The shipchenski Monastery. Old town of Plovdiv very old Roman. I notice most of Bulgarias cities are in center of the country. Have traveled through Mt Musala, Mt.Vihren, Mt. Botev all over 7000ft.

      Well after 3 days of moving around arrived at Hotel Alegra. Has everything, nice pub and restaurant. Glad to be out of the car. Supper of a green salad, all types of veggies in salad. Had a nice Lamb chops in mushroom sauce, side order of green peppers tomatoes, egg in a yello sauce. With a glass of Sheeps milk. And off to bed.

      After nice breakfast of Ham and eggs toast Jam orange juice and coffee. Off to the Library for information. Veliko one of the oldest cities is located on the Yantra River. Ottomans occupied for years, then the Romans, then Turks-Russian wars for a year.

      Has several universities But had been occupied by Germans and Russians, Russians helped rebuilt the city. Built in a communists way of course with their statues but later most torn down.

      Good shopping. Lunch of spicy meatballs gravy bread and cows milk. On me way through Byala, Shoumen, to Dobrick for night at Hotel Dobrick, very comfortable, a lot of hills, Oil gas wheat and one of Bulgaria driest areas. This dates back to 3rd century. In 1913 was taken over by Romania communist till 1990.Got photos of Khan Asparuh clock tower of old Dobrick and church of St George.

      Nice supper green salad, yogurt (Bulgaria founded Yoguart) pea soup, veal steak, ice cream with plums. Had couple glasses of Mishet white wine, very pleasant. Well traveled to Burgas. passed through Nebur and Varba.

      Here in Burgus on the Black Sea, in Hotel Aqua over looking Black Sea, very pleasant. After strolling down to the Beach. I know Turkey Ukraine Russia and Romania are on this sea..

      After a nice salad with a variety of fresh veggies, a nice Rabbit Stew with rice, grilled mushrooms Red cabbage steamed, Cucumber and peas. Desert was like pancakes with several types of fruit. Got a bottle of Melnishka Loza, deep red sat on balcony and relaxed.

      This morning went for a swim in the Black Sea, very relaxing I felt I had been in a place of history. Had a nice sandwich of ham and the works. Got a Turkish plane to Vienna.
