According to Associated Press, Cher can't figure out why everyone's so crazy about reality TV shows.
"What we did was stupid and naive and fun. Today, TV is just cruel," she said Thursday. "I don't know why people feel the need to debase themselves publicly. I don't think you should crush your spirit to get on TV."
Cher, who spoke to an Atlanta Braves Wives benefit for children with craniofacial problems, recalled her days on the '70s variety show "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour."
"I felt like a paper doll," the 55-year-old singer-actress said, referring to her Bob Mackie-designed outfits. "I remember thinking as I tried on one outfit, 'Sonny's gonna have a heart attack when he sees me wearing this.' It was a loincloth with the side removed. When Sonny saw it, he was a little bit ... Italian."

According to Cher's own website:
-Cher is still working very hard to get the new music to you. She is getting ready to fly back to London to do some additional vocal work, and has a photo session scheduled for July for cover art. No word yet on album title, photographer or first single. But... expect to see it in stores as early as September!

-Cher has put her stamp on yet another cover song... the Amber song "Love One Another". Those involved in its recording, and Amber herself, have praised the cover calling it fantastic.

-On August 11, 2001, a motorcycle autographed by Cher will be raffled off at The 61st Annual Black Hills Motorcycle Classic Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota at the Buffalo Chip Campground to benefit CCA. The Harley Fat Boy being awarded is signed by Cher. For more than a decade, it's been proven that Harley riders 'love 'em large'. A new exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is featuring Cher's 1956 Ford pickup truck.

In a survey of over 2,500 Biography Magazine readers, Audrey Hepburn was chosen as the respondents' Favorite Leading Actress of all time with 651 votes. Cher placed third with 365 votes

Variety reports that KISS front-man Gene Simmons is set to publish his autobiography.
"Kiss and Make Up'' will be published in January 2002 and will recount his poverty-stricken childhood, the rise and fall of KISS and his romances with such women as Cher and Diana Ross.

Here's a funny little tidbit - according to a fellow on the crew at "O", the fabulous Cirque du Soliel show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Cher was at the show a couple of weeks ago and was clapping throughout so loudly that she had to remove her rings!

E! Entertainment TV has come up with eight new weekly series for the 2001-02 season, each of which will get a 13-episode commitment and run in key time periods on the network. Included in the new series is "Star Style" which deals with the fashion history of a single major star, starting with Michelle Pfeiffer and Cher as the first two subjects.

News from Rolling Stone:
Cher Working on New Album Never one to stay out of the limelight for long, pop diva Cher is set to follow up the success of her 1998 smash comeback "Believe" with a new album this fall. She and producer Mark Taylor, who also worked on "Believe", laid down five tracks for the as-yet-untitled album in a Los Angeles studio last month. Cher has finished the vocal parts for three other songs, and is headed to Britain to finish the album.

In other Cher news, the chanteuse will again be immortalized in plastic, when Mattel releases a new Cher doll May 28th. With a lavender gown designed by Bob Mackie, the doll's "true-to-life details include authentic face sculpting, dramatic face paint, and a gorgeous mane of black hair," according to Barbiecollectibles.com.

VH1's "100 Greatest Videos'' has named "If I Could Turn Back Time" as the #49 video.
The shows, which break down the list into five blocks of twenty videos each, premiere Monday 7 May
through Friday 11 May, from 10:00-11:00pm (ET/PT),
and the entire run will be repeated Saturday 12 May from 1:00-6:00pm (ET/PT).

On Sunday 29 April 2001, Cher is expected at the premiere of the Universal Pictures release "The Mummy Returns" at the Universal Amphitheater in Universal City California. The event, which will be a benefit for the USC School of Cinema-Television, is scheduled to begin at 6pm.

"The Lost 45s with Barry Scott" features Top 40 records from the 60s, 70s and 80s that no longer receive airplay. The show was on radio in the U.S. for 19 years, in syndication for six and is now heard on the web.
Barry has interviewed her (and Sonny) a few times, she has a chapter in his book and he plays her music a lot.
"The Lost 45s" features America's largest record library, as well as the largest library of interviews and sound clips found anywhere. Barry Scott has released a best selling book and a CD series based on the program and has appeared on VH-1's "Behind The Music." "The Lost 45s" can be heard by clicking the logo below.

Liz Smith reported 8 February 2001 that Cher was among the stars expected to attend the opening of
Stuart Weitzman's new shoe boutique on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles.
