Recipes!!!!
Snowballs

1 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon water
1 1/2 teasp. vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 cup pecans, finely chopped
1/4 teasp. salt
powdered sugar
glaze or frosting of your choice (optional)

Preheat oven to 350.

In large mixer bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.  Add in water and vanilla.  At low speed, beat in flour, nuts and salt until well blended.  If dough is too soft, chill until firm enough to handle.

To form snowballs, shape dough into 1 tablespoon size balls and place them 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes until set but not browned.  Remove cookies immediately and cool 5 minutes on wire racks, then roll in powdered sugar.  Or cool then glaze or frost.  Store in air tight containers.

If glazed, separate layers with waxed paper.  If using powdered sugar, sprinkle additional sugar on top just before serving.

Use decorative tins and give these as gifts.
Brownies in a Jar

Mix dry ingredients in a wide mouth quart jar, the way children make sand art.  These make lovely gifts also.

Add in this order!

3/4 teasp. salt
1/2 teasp. baking powder
1/2 + 1/8 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 cup flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup vanilla, peanut butter or butterscotch chips
1/2 cup nuts

Include a decorative tag for the jar that reads:

Combine contents of jar with:

1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs

Pour into a greased 9 x 9 pan.  Bake at 350 for 27 - 32 minutes.
