KHAZM - "Wrath of Babylon (Encounter of the Thousand Gods)" (10:47)
"Wrath of Babylon" is a progressive/exotic metal piece based on interaction between multiple meters and exotic scales. Primary scales: Six-tone Symmetrical, Phrygian #3, Diminished, Locrian. Interesting meter: 13/8.
KHAZM - "Pyromania" (8:10+)
"Pyromania" is an instrumental concept, based on ideas about patterns of destruction by fire in a couple of books including "Nightfall" by Isaac Asimov. "Pyromania" moves through distinct sections, from the heavy introductory section ("Pyromania") to a slow, psychedelic section ("In The Ashes") and a evil/exotic doomy section ("Inferno") before returning to the initial theme. The currently available recording is a sloppily-played demo and is missing second guitar. There's a half-recorded new version lying around on Lord Vodka's computer - that'll be up as soon as it's done. Like all current material, drums are absent. Primary Scales: Locrian, Phrygian, Phrygian-Dominant. Interesting meters: 5/4, 6/4.
KHAZM - "If You Sleep . . ." (9:14-17:??)
"If You Sleep . . . " is a semi-instrumental concept, and a leftover from a pre-KHAZM psychedelic band called The Pipers. "If You Sleep . . . " features Vodka-soaked synthesizer and Chaotic basswork. More recent version includes production/playing improvement, extended length, modulation, sampling, and controlled flow. If you want to listen to this . . . keep in mind that it's essentially background music designed to appeal to people in altered mental states. Primary Scales: Chromatic, Aeolian, Diminished. Interesting meter: Free time.
KHAZM - "Downward Spiral"
"Downward Spiral" is the standard KHAZM opening piece. It begins with a mildly atonal but melodic bass section, and other parts join in and move around one by one. Baroque ornamentation is a major part of the piece's development, as well as controlled scalar improvisation. Hope for a reunion of the original lineup for a more complex and satisfying version of the song. Primary Scales: Aeolian, Aeolian #7 (Harmonic Minor).

KHAZM - "Dream"
"Dream" is another bass-centered psychedelic track, with spoken lyrics that open thoughts on the state of the sleeping mind and a journey through dreaming. If future equipment and opportunity allows, "Dream" may actually appear as a bass duet or trio, rather than KHAZM's conventional guitar-guitar-bass configuration. Primary Scales: Diminished, Wholetone, Locrian.
