| WHAT ATTENDEES CAN EXPECT FROM CHARLIE'S PLACE |
| RESPECT All attendees of Charlie's Place will be respected: their problems and concerns will be taken seriously and addressed quickly; any complaints they have about disrespectful behavior from other attendees or staff will be dealt with immediately; their opinions will be considered and valued; they will not be asked to do or say anything that might be demeaning to them; they do have the right to challenge (non-physically) disrespectful behavior if and when it occurs. FAIRNESS All attendees of Charlie's Place will be treated fairly: they will not be unjustly accused; they will not be judged according to reputation or past behavior; they will be given a chance to explain their behavior if they believe consequences have been applied unfairly; no one attendee will be given extra chances or different consequences for any reason. SAFETY All attendees of Charlie's Place have the right to be safe while in attendance. Behaviors that may become detrimental to an attendee's safety will be stopped immediately and any concerns attendees have about their, or others, safety will be addressed as soon as they are mentioned to staff. Also, staff will take attendees home, or to another safe place, if their safety outside of Charlie's Place is in questions and they have no other, safe way home. COMFORT All attendees of Charlie's Place have the right to be comfortable during their time there. Behaviors or verbalizations that decrease their comfort level will be dealt with quickly. FREEDOM All attendees of Charlie's Place have the right to freedom of thought and action as long as this freedom does not compromise the safety and comfort of anyone at Charlie's Place. However, if they verbalize thoughts or perform actions that cause others discomfort or decrease the safety level at Charlie's Place, they will be asked to stop while they are in Charlie's Place. FUN All attendees of Charlie's Place have the right to have fun. The only exceptions are behaviors or activities deemed unsafe or inappropriate for Charlie's Place. If attendees disagree with staff rulings about behaviors or activities, they may talk with staff about this and their opinions will be taken seriously. STRUCTURE All attendees of Charlie's Place have the right to know what is expected of them and to be given notice when rules have been changed or when new rules have been instituted. This will usually be done using posters in Charlie's Place and/or letters given to attendees to take home. Attendees will never be given consequences for engaging in behaviors if they have not previously been warned (verbally or through the use of notices and letters) that the behavior has been banned. WARNINGS All attendees of Charlie's Place have the right to know when they are doing or saying something that might lead to earning a written warning. No attendee will be sent home or expelled without first having been warned that this might happen. If attendees disagree with staff regarding these warnings, they have the right to speak to staff about their concerns and to have these concerns taken seriously. ATTENDANCE Expulsion is PERPANENT. COURTESY All attendees of Charlie's Place have the right to expect courteous behavior from others. This includes staff, visitors and other attendees. |
