Theres a new tropical storm in the Atlantic.

No, were not kidding.

The National Hurricane Center issued a special tropical disturbance statement this morning on Tropical Storm Zeta.

Its far out in the eastern Atlantic, about 1,000 miles south-southwest of the Azores.

The system was noted in todays tropical discussion as having gale-force winds, moving west-northwest, with deep convection organizing around its center. More details are expected soon.

This makes the sixth named storm with a Greek name, and the 27th named storm of the season -- even though the season ended Nov. 30. And there are plenty of Greek letters left after Zeta.
