Horror films would have to be my favorite film genre. Noir is really more of a style, otherwise that would win hands down. Horror has something that noir cannot offer though: endless flexibility. With noir having to confine to a very strict set of guidelines to be "true" noir, horror has endless possibilities. From the campy, cheap films of Sam Raimi to the visually frightening, less nail-biting films of Tim Burton, horror has developed very clear "periods" and "movements that are best organized by decade. Below, I have gone into some of my favorites.
