1. Introduction

1.1 Purpose
 The purpose of this document is to establish a set of guidelines and standards for the following:
  1. Cengage Learning XML files marked up with the CenDoc XML Schema and
  2. the production processes associated with this XML.
The goal is to enable the creation and maintenance of consistent, flexible, interchangeable XML that supports its targeted downstream applications.
1.2 Scope
 This document applies to XML content that is being tagged in conformance with the CenDoc schema. The intended audiences for this document are authors that are creating content in an XML editor, editors that are managing projects involving XML, and vendors doing XML conversions and/or transformations. Additionally, programmers creating applications that interact with CenDoc XML content will find this information useful in better understanding the principles and standards behind Cengage Learning XML content.
