| Walkthrough When start a new game, Professor Oak will tell you about Pokemon. Then you choose your name and your rival's name. I'll refer your rival as Gary since that is really what his name is. Pallet Town- You appear in your house when you start. First off, check the PC and withdraw the Potion. Now go out of the house and try to head north. Prof. Oak stops you and takes you back to his lab. When you get there, you and Gary must choose one of his three Pokemon: Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur: Grass/Poison, good if you are a beginner Charmander: Fire, good if an expert Squirtle: Water, for intermediate players Choose whichever one that fits you best. Once you have done that, Gary chooses one. He will always choose the one that has an advantage over yours. He then challenges you to a battle. It doesn't really matter if you win, you just get $175 for it. Now head north to Route 1. Route 1- Pokemon found here: Pidgey, Rattata Not that much to do here. You might as well just build your levels by one or two since you can't capture yet. Eventually you'll reach Viridian City. Viridian City- Items: Oak's Parcel, Potion Grab the Potion from the tree near the north of the town. Heal at the Pokemon Center if you need to. Now head to the Poke Mart. The clerk inside gives you Oak's Parcel. Head back to Pallet Town and deliver it to Oak. Once you deliver it, he gives Gary and you a PokeDex which records data on Pokemon you've seen or captured. After that, head back to Viridian City and buy some Poke Balls at the Poke Mart. Go to Route 1 and capture a Pidgey and Rattata. If want to capture more Pokemon, buy some more Poke Balls. Go to the west to Route 22 where you can fight Gary, but it's optional. You can capture a Nidoran (M) or a Nidoran (F) here. If you want thPokemon Found Here: Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey, Rattata You can find a Weedle in Red Version, the Caterpie in the Blue in this area. This shows that may find a Pokemon in one Version, but not in the other. Catch one and head north to Viridian Forest. Viridian Forest- Pokemon found here: Caterpie, Metapod, Weedle, Kakuna, Pikachu Items: Poke Ball, Anitidote, Potion When you enter the forest, press the A button on the left side for a hidden Antidote. Then head west and north for a Pokeball. Return to the entrance and head east. Follow the path north and pick up another antidote(you encounter two bug catchers as you head north), then head west. Continue on the path until you reach the last trainer. Go north to reach Pewter City. Pewter City- This city contains the first Pokemon League trainer, Brock. If you visit the Museum for a cost of Y50, you can see fossils of rare extinct Pokemon. Later on in the game you'll be able to revive some of them. You can't go to Route 3 to the east until you beat Brock so now enter the Gym. Leader: Brock Prizes: Boulder Badge, TM 34 Pokemon Used: lv12 Geodude, lv14 Onix Go up and fight the trainer, but he is optional. Talk to Brock at the end of the Gym to fight him. If you chose either Bulbasaur or Swuirtle at the beginning this battle is pretty easy. But if you chose Charmander this battle will be tough. For squirtle, use Bubble. For bulbasaur, use Vine Whip. After you've beaten him head out of the Gym. Heal if you need to. Now head to route 3 Route 3- Pokemon found here: Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Jigglypuff, Magikarp Route 3 is pretty straight forward. You encounter several trainers here, with two pokemon you should catch, Spearow and Jigglypuff. Keep going until you reach the Pokemon Center, inside is a salesman who give you Magikarp for Y500. You can buy it if you want. Right beside the Pokemon Center is the entrance to Mt. Moon. |
