Introduction: Pokemon Red / Blue is a Gameboy game that came out in 1995 in Japan and is still rocking the world today as it is introduced into America. It's a role playing game with a new twist, you don't fight yourself, you fight using trained beasts called Pokemon. Pokemon is also one of the few Gameboy games that uses the link cable to not only challenge other player but to trade Pokemon with other players. Professor Oak, a leading authority in all things Pokmon, gets you started by giving you one of three Pokmon; Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. He also gives you a Pokmon encyclopedia called a Pokdex that he wants you to fill up with Pokmon information for him. You mission is to battle your way through the long and winding travels of the world of Pokmon. As you travel, you will have to catch as many Pokmon as possible. This is not an easy task, as you have other Pokmon trainers out there to stop you, including Team Rocket and your long time rival Gary. Pokemon Yellow came out three years later in Japan. Pokemon yellow was an updated version of Re/Blue. Pikachu is given to you at the very start of the game. Your rival, Gary, starts his Pokemon-collecting with Eevee instead of Squirtle, Bulbasaur, or Charmander. Dungeon layouts have been slightly altered, and different Pokemon are now found in new places than you would expect. For the visually conscious, new character portraits for each and every creature are a welcome sight. |
