Who is Chantal Kreviazuk?
In short, Chantal is a singer-songwriter-pianist from a suburb of Winnipeg, Manitoba, now living in Toronto. She released her debut album, Under These Rocks & Stones, in 1996, followed by Colour Moving & Still in 1999. In March of 2000, she won two Juno awards for Best Pop/Adult Album (for Colour Moving & Still) and Best Female Artist. For her full story, see the
biography.

May 18, 1973. (She is currently 28 years old.)

Where does she live?
The "Little Italy" district of Toronto, Ontario.

Is she dating anyone? Is she married?
Chantal is married to Raine Maida, leadsinger of Our Lady Peace, as of December 19, 1999. Visit Allison's site

Does she have any children?
Not yet - although Chantal has said she would like to become a mother someday. However, she has also stated that she would not have a child while on tour.

How many albums has she released?
Two full-length LPs - Under These Rocks & Stones was released October 7, 1996 in Canada and June 3, 1997 in America. Colour Moving & Still was released October 5, 1999 in Canada and April 18, 2000 in America. Early editions of Colour Moving & Still included a three-song bonus CD including "Leaving On A Jet Plane" (a John Denver cover Chantal contributed to the
Armageddon soundtrack), "Feels Like Home" (a  Randy Newman cover that appeared on the Dawson's Creek soundtrack), and "In My Life" (a cover of the Beatles' hit that is the theme song to Providence and not previously available).

Are there two versions of Under These Rocks & Stones?
Yes. In 1996, Chantal released the first version in Canada, followed a year later by a second version that was released in America. Soon after, the second version was released in Canada and the first version was discontinued (never having been released outside of Canada). The reason the two albums feature different covers is, as Chantal says, "I cut all my hair off. One day I thought my boyfriend was bored of me, I thought he might leave me if I didn't surprise him. So I was trying to think of all these ways to surprise him and we had only been seeing each other for six months, so I cut all my hair off. By chance it happened to be before the U.S. release of my album. So when America saw my hair change they were like 'we have to do a photo shoot with this girl.' I don't think they liked the first one either, and Americans always like things done their way. I liked my first album cover a lot because it hid me, you couldn't really see me. I am not a really vain person, I don't feel like an extremely physical person that I'd want to have my picture all over. I just wanted it to be about the music and what was inside the CD. I didn't really want it to be so much about my album cover, so that's why I chose something as faded."

What's inside the two CDs is also very different. The first version had thirteen tracks, while the second has only twelve. On the first version, the song "Imaginary Friend" was track 6 and the song "Actions Without Love" was the final song on the CD. On the second version, "Actions Without Love" was removed from the track listing and "Imaginary Friend" was moved to the end, becoming track 12 and bumping previous tracks down one. The second version is now the only copy available for sale.

Are there two versions of Colour Moving & Still?
No. Although the Canadian version and the American version have different covers, there are no other differences, except the color of the actual discs themselves (the American version is a creamy white with "watermarks," while the Canadian version has the same "watermarks" but is a metallic color). No alterations were made to the CD booklets, and - at Chantal's request - the spelling of
colour was left the same.

How many videos has she released?
Nine. From Under These Rocks & Stones, two for "God Made Me" (a Canadian and American version), one for "Surrounded," "Believer" and "Wayne." A video for "Leaving On A Jet Plane" from the Armageddon soundtrack. From Colour Moving & Still, one for "Before You" and "Dear Life" and "Far Away."

Why are there two versions of the video for "God Made Me"?
When representatives from Columbia Records (who represent Chantal in the U.S.) saw the first video, they didn't think it fit the American audience, so a quickie video shoot was thrown together to film a second video that was released on MTV. Chantal likes the first one better.

Where can I find sheet music for Chantal's songs on the Internet?
Ironically, the only tabs that can be found on the internet are for the guitar - there is no place to go to find free sheet music for the piano. However, Tanja has kindly scanned in the sheet music to Surrounded, which can be found
here! All you have to do is print it, and you're all set!

Are you Chantal? Do you know her? Do you represent her?
No, no and no.
