BOYS GYMNASTICS
ROCHESTER - The Champions for Life boys' gymnastics team competed on Sunday in the "Chill-out Challenge" Invitational Meet.
Over 11 teams from upstate competed for top spots in six events and all-around scores.
Level 4 age 12+ gymnast Max Krause, in his first meet of the season, received first place medals for vault, high bar, and pommel horse; second place for parallel bars and third for floor and rings. Krause also took first place in the all-around(50.7).
Another Level 4 age 12+ gymnast, Derek Laxton, took first place for parallel bars, floor, and rings; second for vault and third for high bar and pommel. He captured second place in the all-around (50.5).
Level 5 age 7-9 gymnast Caleb Filer received a first-place medal for high bar, second for floor (9.0) and seventh for rings. He also captured the seventh place all-around position (47.7).
Level 5 age 12+ competitor TJ Nervina took first in floor (9.5), second in high bar and rings, third in vault and pommel and fourth on parallel bars.He captured second place in the all-around.
The team, coached by Carl McDowell, travels to Syracuse this Sunday for their next meet.
Champions for Life boys compete at Polar Bear

SYRACUSE - The Champions for Life boys' gymnastic team traveled to CNY Gymnastics Sunday for the Polar Bear Invitational Meet.
Five boys completed against members from 10 other New York and Pennsylvania gyms.
Derek Laxton, Level 4 age 12+ competitor, received first place medals on rings (8.9), floor (9.2), pommel horse (8.0), and parallel bars (8.8).
He captured second place on high bar (7.0), and vault (9.3).
Laxton earned first-place honors in the all-around (51.2).
Max Krause, also competing in the Level 4 age 12+ division, placed first on the high bar (7.3) and vault (9.4).
He earned second-place awards for rings (8.1), floor (8.0), pommel (7.8), parallel bars, as well as all-around (48.2).
Caleb Filer, Level 5 age 7-9 division, received a sixth-place ribbon for high bar (9.0) and eighth place on vault (8.9).
TJ Nervina, Level 5 age 12+ competitor, captured first place in five events - high bar (9.1), rings (8.4), floor (9.1), parallel bars (8.5), and vault (9.7).
He also earned second place on pommel (5.4). Nervina took first place honors in the all-around with a 50.2.
Boys Compete at State Championships

Boys Gymnastics
Two members of the Champions for Life boys gymnastics team traveled on March 20 to the New York championships in Rochester.
Competing against 39 level 5 gymnasts, ages 10-11, Caleb Filer of Union Springs, received a medal for seventh place in the vault with a 9.35.
Scoring 8.7 on floor, 8.2 on pommel horse, 8.3 on rings, 7.9 on parallel bars, and 8.5 on high bar, Filer ranked 18th with a combined score of 50.95.
TJ Nervina of Cato competed against 14 other age 12+ level 5 boys. He captured second-place medals in vault (9.4) and floor (9.2) and sixth-place medals in high bar (9.1) and rings (8.8).
Combining those scores with parallel bars (7.7) and pommel horse (7.0), Nervina had an all-around total of 51.2.
Both boys, coached by Carl McDowell, qualified for the Region 7 championships to be held in Allentown, Pa. April 23.
