CAMPFIRE SONGS

Campfire songs, as everyone knows, come in a variety of forms.
Firstly we have the 'Rounds' - Like Campfire's Burning', The 'Action' songs - like 'Pizza Hut', The 'Chants' - 'There ain't no flies on us', the songs that everybody just sings together and songs like the following ones when the audience just repeat everything that the leader sings (and does). Don't forget of cause the interjections:
BRAVO, Oggy, Oggy, Oggy......, Good, Good, Very very good, Weeee........Like it, etc:
In 1998, I had the opportunity to go abroad for the first time, when the troop I was then ASL with went over to France. And of course we had a campfire. It was like a campfire I had never seen before, the scouts actually RAN around it! ( Not the sort of thing we would get away with over here)
However the best part of it all, was that we all learned some totally different campfire songs, which I stole ansd have now become an essential part of any campfire I attend. So by default, I have inherited these as my theme songs, and now I am expected to sing them when I take to the ring (as if I needed an excuse).
Unfortunately, it is difficult to give the tune to these, they are both popular tunes, or at least they sound familiar! My advice is find a tune that fits, who will know the difference!
Basically the a repeat song. but not for the faint hearted. The leader sings a line and the audience repeat. The song is loved by cubs and brownies especially, whilst Akela and Brown Owl are burying their heads in their hands.
This allows the campfire leader to make up all sorts of grizzly rhymes  to inflict on this poor bird.

I think this tune is the same as the verses of  the song  'Gillygiilyossenfeffercaspinnellerbogen by  the sea' (if I haven't spelled that right - who  cares!)
This is by far my current favourite. Again the leader sings a line and the audience repeat.
Then try adding a few actions, you'll find that they follow like sheep.
This is the one song guarenteed to be sung for the rest of the camp, on the coach back, and even on troop nights - it's infectuous - so be warned!

for this is a purely nonsense song and was tought to us by a leader called Mick or Mike from a troop in Bournemouth who came with us to France. (Just in case anybody knows him PLEASE email me from the Home Page and tell me who he is - I've been trying to trace him)
It's one of those songs that nobody understands, where you teach the chorus, but the scouts want to learn the words as well. Usually you will find that your troop will join in with the whole song once they've heard it a few times:
