USEFUL ENGLISH LEARNING LINKS

Searching the internet can be fun, but it can also be frustrating when looking for a particular type of page.  There are many great webpages on the net for English learners, the problem is finding them.  To make it easier for you, we will post interesting and helpful links up as we find them.  ENJOY!!! The linguistic funland loop This is an entrance to a web loop.  A number of ESL (English as a Second Language) sites have linked themselves to each other.  Each site contains a "next" button that allows you to move to another ESL site. Some of the sites on this loop are great, some are only average.

The Student Times (produced by The Japan Times Newspaper) This is a great interactive resources designed for Japanese people studying English.   There are Japanese translations of the English you are studying and you can hear correct pronunciation of words too!! Have a look!

The New York Times Learning Network This page is designed for American school students, and has many lessons based on recent current events.  This is quite difficult, so challenge yourself with the great material they present.

Mainichi Interactive Quite diffficult.  Has Japanese definitions of difficult words in the text and you can listen to the text to hear correct pronunciation.  You can use this page without having to check your own dictionary.  ALso has horoscopes in English with a voice recording- find out what this week will be like for you!.

Merriam- Webster This site has anoustanding online English dictionary and links to Japanese/English Dictionary.  It also has a "word of the day service"- if you give them your email address they email you a new English word with definition every day.  There are a number of other services too- check it out!

ESL Playhouse for kids Although this is designed for chioldren, there are a lot of fun things to do here.  Good way to have fun studying English.
