Making of the website.
This website is made by a group of five people:
On this page you’ll find information about the process from start to end of how we created this website.
Catus Fort Victoria
This is the identity we as a group came up with. Though this identity is chosen at random, it gave us inspiration and influence of the concept of our website. Hayden has designed a logo to represent our group. The logo design links with the name ‘Cactus Fort Victoria’, as mentioned before the name gave us ideas and influence on our design. Here are some logo designs that Colin Foster has created.

Logo Sketches/Final Design
Here are some sketches of some logos Hayden has sketched out. As you can see all are heavily influenced by the group name. We have aimed to create a logo that is that contains simplicity and will be easy to memorise. Below is the final design which is the outcome of design idea 4.

Research/Questionnaire survey
Before designing the layout of the website we needed nformation on what we would include in our website that would appeal to our target audience. Jack Collier is our team researcher, he has created questionnaire survey using ‘Survey Monkey’ which is a free to use web service that allows us to create an electronic survey that can be sent through e-mail to our target audience. Here is the link to the survey: Survey Monkey Below are the the results we have received..
Website Wireframes
After receiving the results Hayden and Melissa started working on the website wireframe using photoshop. The wire frames are made using a grid system and guides, by doing so will allow us to create a more controlled structure to our website. Here are the wireframes for each page.
Here are some modifications of the wireframes for each webpage Home, gallery, game, and about (in the exact order), including some final web mockup designs for each. The colour scheme is decided by John, he has done some research on colour theories so that the visuals would be easy and pleasant to look at.
Developing/Building the website
Mel is our main developer with Hayden assisting with few of the coding process. Using HTML and CSS Mel has built and defined the visuals of the website. Javascript is also used to create a slider on the home page. Here are some screenshots of the building process.
Coding
Each page is hand coded rather than using the features in dreamweaver to create the visuals. Jquery is also used alongside with HTML, CSS and Javascript. Google fonts link tag is also included in the head section of each page, reason being is because the font we wanted to use isn’t available as one of the font families. Aswell as coding each page, Mel has managed to make it responsive so that mobile users will be able to access a more user friendly view on their phones.
Game
From the beginning as a group we decided to include something fun on the website for the audience to interact with, so we came up with a concept for a game . The members from the group that will design and come with with ideas for the game are Jack, Colin and John. Here are some ideas we came up with for a game.
Cactus Jump
The game we have decided to make is ‘Cactus jump’ which will have a similar game style to an exisiting game called ‘Doodle Jump’. The artstyle will be 8bit so we can achieve retro style visuals. Colin, John and Jack has designed the character sprites and power ups which would be included in the gameplay.
Jack has designed the scenery/backgrounds for the game, he has stuck with the pixillated look so it matches the theme with the characters...
