Chapter 12
As the three of them approached the exit to the town, something became painfully apparent.  They  had passports for Leli and Seyona, but none for Chaco.  After much delegating, they came up with a plan.
Snickering evilly, the two girls dragged a whining Chaco into the local bakery and exited minutes later, lugging a white whining Chaco behind them. Covered head to toe with flour his mission was clear: Remain still at all times and play the part of a statue, or the whole world learned of Maran and Matcha.
"All right." Leli whispered, spying the guards at the exit. "Places everyone."
Seyona took hold of Chaco's head while Leli clutched his feet.  Together they lifted Chaco, who remained totally stiff and unmoving.  "I hope ya appreciate this..." He muttered.
"Shhh, no talking!" Seyona hissed at him.  The three of them slowly made their way toward the guards who were eyeing them suspiciously.
Standing the 'statue' on his feet, Leli faced the first guard, batting her eyelashes.  "May we pass, kind sir?"
Seyona squinted at the other guard, swearing he looked like Luc.  The guard stared forward, seemingly not noticing her.  Seyona shook her head, realizing she must be going crazy, and turned her attention back to the task at hand.
The first guard was taken aback for a moment.  "Uh...D...do you have...passports?"
"Of course, how silly of me." Leli cooed, pulling the passports from her pack.  "Right here." She handed them to the guard.
The guard inspected them thoroughly before handing them back.  "These seem to be in order...what about that?" He pointed to the 'statue'.
"Oh that..." Seyona laughed.  "It's a statue, obviously."
"Well, I can see that." The guard replied defensively.  "What I meant is, what do you plan on doing with it?"
"We're delivering it to a collector who lives near here." Seyona answered, putting her hands on her hips.
"Yeah, but...can you two handle it by yourselves?" The guard pointed out.
"Are you IMPLYING," Seyona approached the guard threateningly.  "That just because we are GIRLS that we can't carry this statue to our destination?"
"Well...uh...yes...I-I mean no...I mean...uh..." The guard stuttered as Seyona's ears started steaming.
"AAAAHH!!!!" Chaco's frantic voice broke the tension.  "Get it off me, get it off!"
Everyone turned to see Chaco trying to pry a flying squirrel with a red cape off his face.  The guard immediately reached for his sword.  "I knew there was something funny about you guys!"
Leli and Seyona backed away, holding their hands in front of them.  "Would you believe it's a talking statue?" Leli asked, laughing nervously.
The guard was getting nearer to them, and they had no real way of running away without leaving Chaco behind.  Things looked very bleak for our two heroes.
Suddenly, in a flash of light, they all found themselves on a hill by a tree.  There was no guard, no town surrounding them, just grass underneath them and sky above them.  Everyone was in shock, including the squirrel, which was being held up by Chaco.
"Uh..." Seyona looked around her, wide eyed.  "What just happened?"
"I'm not sure..." Leli pointed.  "But there's Coronet over there...we're out of the town!"
"You mean we made it?" Chaco asked, still holding the squirrel.
"Mu...." The squirrel acknowledged.
"Look over there..." Seyona pointed in the opposite direction.  "There's a town over there...lets go!"
Chaco shook his head.  "That's Muse, an' I don't think ya really wanna go in there..."
"Aw, lighten up..." Leli waved her arm, dismissing the issue.  "What could possibly deter us from going there?"
Chaco sighed.  "You'll see."
Giving him an annoyed look, Leli adjusted her pack and started off down the hill, Seyona at her heels.  Seyona turned around and glared at the Winger and his squirrel.  "You guys coming or what?"
