Chapter 11
Chaco snickered happily to himself as he scampered across the flat rooftops to his secret hideout. He felt his muscles coil in his legs as he leapt, seemingly blind, into the cool night air, only seconds later to slam into the brick wall, his dagger sharp talons locked firmly in place.
Face pressed tight against the sand papery wall, he groped along it's vertical surface until his fingers came across frozen metal. Chaco gripped the pipe loosely, and let himself slide downwards, the chill of the air whipped around his small form.
His taloned feet took the impact of the paved ground. He chuckled once again for his victory this day. He stretched his wings out to full length, and quickly pulled the left one in again when he felt a twinge of pain. He looked over his bronzed shoulder and swore, "Oh, that, that, ditz hurt you did't she?" He gently pulled his tender wing towards him and rubbed it and smiled thinking back. "Well, I got her back, I did. Pow! Smack dab in tha face." There was a rustle above him, that made him flinch. He stared, tense, ready to get out of the way if trouble aroused, yet nothing happened. He scratched his head and started to walk further into the darkness. "That chick was just askin' for it, wasich she, Maran." He let go of his left wing and spread out the right, "Yet, she didn't get you, Matcha. Nope! You're de lucky one, notta tear in-" Chaco stopped, this time he could of swore he heard giggles. He swung around, ready to take on whoever approached.
"Did he just call his wings Maran and Matcha?!" The unforetold voice laughed incredulously in the darkness. Then a second later a loud smack, followed by a painful, "OW!"
"Will you hush! Great, I think he heard you. There goes our surprise attack."
Swallowing loudly Chaco called out in his loudest most meanest voice, "Who's there?! I know how ta kick butt!"
Suddenly, in a wink of an eye, he was tackled. "Okay you little twerp, where's our tickets?"
It dawned on Chaco, the familiar weight that bore down on him was, "Holy cow! You weigh a ton! Get off, yer suffocating me, ya two ton Tessie!"
"Leli, let me handle this!" A female voice ordered, he looked up from his position to see green pants, a white shirt, then into the green eyes of an amused Seyona. She knelt down, "Hi ya, kid."
Chaco looked unamused, "I'm not a kid; I'm a man."
"Ha!" Leli scoffed from on top of him.
"Okay, do you have a name?"
"Why don't you try Maran?" Leli burst out giggling.
Chaco's brown eyes grew wide, "WHA! HOW'D YA-" He stopped and went deep red.
"Ooooh, I think we got something here." The blonde teased, then shut up when she caught a glare from Seyona.
"Look, we just want our tickets back, " Seyona studied Chaco's stubborn face.
"Fergit it; finders keepers" He mumbled.
"THAT'S IT! HE'S DEAD!" Leli grabbed Chaco's arms and started to tie them up in rope.  Seyona came to his defense. "Leli, what are you doing?!"
"I'm tying him up."
"ABUSE! ABUSE! AB-MPH!" Chaco scowled when a piece of cloth was shoved in his mouth.
"Ahhh, bliss." Leli cooed, then continued to secure Chaco.
"Leli, he's just a-"
"We tried it your way, it didn't work. So now it's mine."
Seyona thought about it, then shrugged. "Very well, I guess he did deserve this."
Leli nodded and rolled Chaco over to reveal the small brown pouch that he wore strapped over his chest by his side. Inside were the tickets. "Eurika!"
"You got them? Good. Now let's get going." Seyona turned to leave, but stopped when Leli started to drag Chaco along behind them. "What are you doing?" She stated bluntly.
Leli bashed her eyelashes innocently, "Dragging the prisoner."
Chaco muffled in protest as well as Seyona. "Are you nuts?! Okay, I get you're angry at the kid, " Another angry protest, "Sorry, man, "a scoff from Leli, "Winger then! Happy!?" Both were silent and listening, "as I was saying, you're mad, I get that, but why bring the Winger? He'll just slow us down."
Leli smiled smugly. "Like my mother always said, 'Waste not, want not'."
Seyona looked less than amused.  "Waste not, want not...he's a person, not a potato!"
"Really?" Leli blinked and looked at the tied up squirming Winger. "Coulda fooled me...ANYWAY, he could be useful to us."
Seyona raised an eyebrow.  "I'm interested to hear how."
"Well, this guy obviously knows where he's going, most likely he's been this way before, so he can be our guide." Leli explained smugly.
Chaco quickly spit out the gag. "Yeah, I've been here before...but why wud I wanna help ya?!" The kid said from the ground.
"Because if word ever got out about...Maran and Matcha..." Leli pointed to his wings.  "I don't think Mr. Toughshot could live it down."  Chaco's face turned pale.
"That's blackmail!" Seyona gasped.  "You're planning to use his greatest weakness against him for your own personal gain!"
Leli blinked.  "So?"
"I like it, let's go." Seyona smiled and pulled Chaco to his feet.
Leli untied Chaco's legs and secured his arms better, taking the loose end of the rope and pulling on it.  "Looks like I got the last laugh." She chuckled to herself as she pulled him down the road.  "Not bad for a 'two ton Tessie', huh?"
Chaco gulped, stumbling along behind them.
