Like any organization, Columbia Ultimate has gone through its share of changes.  Originally the "CFL Dream" was born during Christmas break, 2003-04, as stated in the original "Progress Log" presented on this page.

Since then, the league has become a success, thanks to the dedication of its founders and players.  The key man with the idea was Matt Horn (Right), the current president of Columbia Ultimate. When asked why he created it, he said, "My passion for the game was so immense, taking it to the next step was the only option in my mind, hence the league was born."

Along with Horn, Matt Riggleman (Right) is one of the co-founders of Columbia Ultimate for helping to set up the league. When asked to comment on the league, Riggleman said, "It's really great to watch the league take shape every year. I'm glad to see the enthusiasm we bring to it every year is wearing off among our players and community."

Once the first steps had been taken, the six original captains were chosen to lead six teams and 48 players.  They were Matt Horn, Brian Horn, Mason Mowrer, Nate Smith, Ty Keyser, and Matt Poole.  Games kicked off that summer (2004), beginning a new era of ultimate frisbee in Columbia.

It certainly wasn't a fairy tale beginnning, the league experienced multiple hardships before settling down.  A major problem arose when many players failed to show up, often repeatedly. Other startling moments included when Ty Keyser, a team captain, quit the league, upsetting many other players.

But the league went on, thanks to the efforts of players and other captains.  Even without Ty, Matt Riggleman lead his team to the finals, placing second only to Matt Horn's team,
Treachery. Since that year, Matt Horn and others have been keeping the league alive every summer.  They sweat both on the field and off, turning that original "CFL Dream" into reality with Columbia Ultimate!
Below is a chronicle of all major events in Columbia Ultimate's history, past, present, and even future!
