The most important peacetime activity of a fighting force is training for war. PAF has a very disciplined and well organized training system on which it can proud of. It trains to outwit, outfight and outshoot the enemy.

PAF Academy Risalpur:

      The selected candidates proceed to the Risalpur Academy, Risalpur is a small town situated in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. PAF academy comprises two premier institutions of the PAF, The College of Flying Training (CFT) and The College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE). Both these institutions are well equipped with modern workshops, laboratories, library, class rooms and other academic facilities to classify them as a distinctive institutions.

College Of Flying Training (CFT):

     In CFT, Aviation cadets go through flying/academic training of 3 years. The college has two types of trainer aircrafts namely MFI-17 "Mushak" which is built in Pakistan and T-37 which is a American jet trainer. Recently, a another jet trainer is inducted into PAF name K-8, a joint venture of Pakistan and China. The pilots who completed successful training on these aircrafts will awarded flying wings. 

College Of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE):

    The CAE came into being after the independence, first it was situated at korangi Creek, Karachi, but shifted to Risalpur in 1985. The aviation cadets has to go through under a training of 3 and a half years to become the Aeronautical Engineers. Its graduates today leads most of the aerospace related departments of the PAF, PAK Army, PIA and other civilian sectors.

The PAF also offer commission in another branches such as:

Admin.
Meteorology.
Accounts.
Data Automation.
Branch list Permanent commission.
Logistic officers.
Air Defence Weapon controllers.
Legal officers.
Education officers.
