| History After being involved in several Yahoo! leagues during the early years of the new millenium, the team that would become the Kansas City Goatcheese joined the Richie Ashburn League in 2005. Playing as the Kansas City Spankers, they finished third in both the regular season and in the postseason. With a core of players like Mark Texieira, Miguel Tejada, Miguel Cabrera, and Andruw Jones to build around, the future looks good for the franchise, which was renamed the Goatcheese for the 2006 season. The Goatcheese play at Goatcheese Field, a $300 million facility that seats 45,000. Goatcheese Field opened in April 2005, and is owned by the Goatcheese Group, which also owns the team, as well as the Goatcheese football and hockey franchises, Meunster Field (set to open in September 2006), and a hockey arena currently being constructed and due to open in October 2006.
