| History The Isotopes first took the field in April 2005. They had an up-and-down inaugural season, but really came on strong towards the end and gave Northampton a tight battle before ultimately losing in the championship of the Richie Ashburn League. Built around a lot of young players like Ryan Howard, Hank Blalock, Jhonny Peralta, Zach Duke, Brett Myers, and Dontrelle Willis, Boston will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. The team is named the Isotopes in honor of the home team on "The Simpsons". Playing at the contriversially-named Foreskin Field, the 45,000-seat, $200 million downtown ballpark is only minutes away from the organization's other facilities, Duff Stadium, and a hockey arena under construction that's due to open in October 2006.
