I noticed today when I voted in the polls that they are two different
set ups! I like the way you's show that, I"m sure it was accidental,
but its still nice. The poll about the superbowl shows the people who
responded, where the yahoo groups one doesnt'..........interesting

hello everyone, you will see in the top right corner of the front
page of egroup under log in and your name something that says family
filter is on. Heres something to think about depending on your own
clubs needs. I have a sheltie list and from time to time we use the
words like bitch and stud and we found we needed to have the filter
off as egroup filters didnt like it. Just something to think about.

------------
A screen shot is just that...one screen full of
image, as I discovered when creating the exhibits for our
newsletter. It doesn't show what you need to scroll down
to see. The images created by eGroups crew were cut off
at 847 pixels worth (meaning they merged more than one screen,
just as I did although I included everything on the
page). The image Warren created was a single screen
shot, about 600 pixels of data, as you can see by the way it
cuts off in the middle of the data input box. So there
is a lot we cannot see on this page.
Is the founder's homepage link in the detail we
cannot see? I don't know. | |

Angie:
There isn't a "founders home page link" as there is now in clubs.
There is a link that says "for more information" then lists URL.
To change the url in new yahoo groups, as a owner, you click on
SETTINGS on bottom left of page. The click EDIT in the top middle
box, anfd about half way down on the page, there is a place to change
the link.
I hope this helps.

I figured out promotion and feel
it is a waste of space. They should put that in the main
clubs area. If they can't figure out how to paste their
own club name in the space, they probably couldn't figure out
how to upload the graphic or paste the code altogether.
But, what the heck is database?

of Database

Now here's a handy feature for those of us who love to keep records.
Database assists in the creation of lists of information through the
use of templates with preset fields or empty forms so that you can
create own record fields up to ten (10).
Example of how it might be used...let's say I want to create a list of
member birthdays so that I might send them electronic greeting cards.
I would open a "table" and define the fields as: Member Name, E-Mail
Address, Birthdate. Then, I could import to that file information I
already know. I could choose to allow members to add to this
information, or I could make it moderator/list owner control only (the
way Photos in clubs are now). I haven't yet discovered if this is
really a functional database, meaning I could sort the list by field,
but even without it, it is certainly a feature that will benefit
owners and moderators.

What is a Database?
|
| |
|
For those who have no idea what a
database is:
A database is basically a list
consisting of fields and records. The fields are those
areas the data defines, i.e.: name, address, city, state,
zipcode, phone number, e-mail address, birthdate are all
possible fields. Each listing of data within those
fields represents a record, e.g.: Joe Schmoe, 118 Nosuch
Street, Hometown, California, 90210, 800-555-1212, [email protected],
06/27/1999 would be one record.
In a true database, I could use
any field as key to generate information. For instance,
let's say I want to generate a list of all persons living in
California. I could ask the database to show all records
with state=California. The search of the database would
pull out all records matching that parameter and would not
list the remainder of the records.
Since the database feature does
not allow field searches or sorts, it is not really a true
database, but it is still a very nifty tool for listing and
alphabetizing information about everything from members to
recipes to messages on FAQs. You are only limited by the
kinds of lists you can dream up.

hello to all the new members, we look forward to seeing the things
you do here. I am sure you have read the front page, this is your
club to play in. We ask that you respect the others here and dont
wreck it for us :-)
Please do polls, post pics whatever. From what we have seen with the
beta version there are a lot of features here that are being carried
over to Yahoo Groups, granted that may change with newer versions but
be warned.
Enjoy

I wonder if the ads in
e-mail have something to do with individual
settings. I don't see them in digest form when receiving
by mail and I've noticed a lot of people don't seem to have
them in their replies when they do not remove any of the other
information. Unfortunately, I haven't had as much
time to tinker with the new format as you guys seem to have,
so keep the info coming.
