PCS was not behind in the race for electricals..They took three from our batch,Tess,Anu and Arun Ramachandran..Arun Ramachandran will be a happy man,since two years ago his brother had joined the same company and he will have company at Pune or Bombay..When contacted his brother said he was very happy for Arun..Congrats all..
Tata Elxsi
Tata ELXSI took one person from the campus and electricals should be proud of that because they surpassed tele and applied and took our very own Vinod J. Congrats to Vinod for getting through the Tata bandwagon.
Mindtree
Mindtree took up three electricals in Sabari,KK, and Bejoy, leaving them with heavier purses and great prospects of a brand new DELL Laptop awaiting them at Bangalore in a year...They say success is sweet,especially if it comes after a couple of missed chances..Kudos guys..
CTS:Sky is the limit!
CTS broke the single day,week and company record at CGPU,by recruting a mammoth 123 CETians to the Cognizant clan..Out of the 350 odd eligible candidates,CTS made a near clean sweep of the remnants of CET by going almost as predicted (mail to cetellects by Abishek : "and CTS will also be shopping by the half dozen score(6*20=120) sum..." dated 29-06-04).This is an indirect signal to the CGPU that they are mass recruiters, who are very loyal to CET and would like to take Day1,Slot1 status next year...Hope they take around 200 next year...
The Process.
First level comprised of an aptitude test, that was very tough and quite similar in structure to CAT 2003..Apparently the cutoff was very small..(maximum 10/40 total questions)..150+ got shortlisted for the interview...For many the interview was pure tech, for some it was a mix of both tech and HR, while for some there were two interviews..The panels where quite different in their judging nature and there was quite a lot of mixed results.It was commonly observed that the first few interviews were very tough..

Wipro delivers.
Wipro delivered their share of placements,pooling in with 19 electricals for their coveted 'Team Rainbow'..Though being a day 2 company, Wipro took 68 people to their clan as against an expected 80...Hope Wipro recruits more next year...

Infy shopping?
27 'scions' from electrical!..The latest buzz word in the campus has been a dream for many.Many more got through.Infy seemed to have struck gold at CET sweeping the cream from the college before anyone else could.They also adopted the crispest of all selection procedures and walked off with more than a century.Hail Infy!
The Process.
It all started off with a two tier test so identifiable with the Infy style.The first one was a puzzle solving test, with 10 relatively easy puzzles with differential marking scheme.Some puzzles were given 8 marks, some 6 marks and so on.The test was for 50 marks.There was only one person who scored centum.There were many with 46 and lesser.
The second one was an aptitude test for english, with reading comprehension and basic CAT model questions.
The Elimination.
Based on a cutoff on the two tests, 158 out of 454 people who appeared for the test were shortlisted.There is no idea about the cutoffs.Rumours put it at 20 for the puzzles and 30 for the english test.
The Interview.
The interview was a very informal chat session, where they probably cheked if you could speak well and convey your ideas clearly.Some candidates were asked to solve puzzles and some were asked to market a product while most had to just explain who they were.
The Final Shortlist.
As hopes built up, Infy confirmed our tryst with the IT boom by saying they crossed the three figure mark, and then the CGPU hall including Dr Samson sir, erupted into delight.The name calling session was very long and eventful.Many got through.Some unfortunate people couldn't.But the season has just begun and there are many more recruitments waiting to happen.Best of luck to all.
