To Whom It May Concern:
Michael Edison was a member of my teaching staff during the 1998-1999 school year at Kwethluk Community School in Kwethluk, Alaska. Mr. Edison substituted during the initial part of the year and then took over a math/science position in the high school during the second semester.
I found Mr. Edison to be a real boon to the staff. He is a very positive, energetic man who is always willing to take on a variety of tasks. He has good rapport with the students and was very enthusiastic about his teaching. He brought a multitude of skills with him which included coaching, computer technology, and industrial arts. He has a broad spectrum of interests and is not hesitant about tackling something new.
Mr. Edison filled in a very difficult position, following a teacher who had been in Kwethluk for many years. He had to backtrack and catch students up in math; and he had to clean out and arrange a classroom/lab area which was cramped and had accumulated clutter for a long time. He never became discouraged; he always had a smile on his face; and he managed the task in record time. At the same time, Mr. Edison set an example for the staff in his professional attire.
Michael Edison was the first to volunteer for extra-curricular duties. He always seemed to have the students' best interests at heart. He was willing to put in extra time to prepare his lessons and his classroom, to enhance school programs, and to work with students. He was very helpful in troubleshooting the school's computer network.
It is without hesitation that I recommend Michael Edison for a teaching position. It was a pleasure to work with him, and I feel he would be a real asset to any teaching staff.
