To Whom It May Concern:

I have participated in a team-teaching situation with Michael Edison during the 1999-2000 school year and am pleased to be able to offer him this letter of recommendation.

As special education teacher at Kwethluk Community School, I work with several low functioning students teaching a life-skills curriculum. I asked Mike to help me work with some of the high school age boys, providing them with a male role model and helping ease them into adult society. Mike worked with the boys on money skill activities: counting coins, using money responsible, paying for items using the next nearest dollar strategy, etc. He also tautht the boys such daily living skills as laundry and simple meal preparation. He worked with them on learning some leisure time activities such as simple card games and puzzles.

Mike was a good role model for the high school boys. He sponsored several field trip opportunities to local stores, and expanded the curriculum to some activities that I hadn't considered: pumping fuel oil and simple mechanical repairs. I enjoyed working with Mike and found him a valuable addition to class.

Mike was co-operative, friendly, and helpful. He maintained a sense of humor and was able to work independently with the boys. Most importantly, the boys liked working with Mike and were able to bond with an adult role model. He was reliable and an important part of the class.

I am pleased to be able to recommend Michael Edison to you. I would choose to work with him again in a similiar situation, and would actively recruit to have him work in any school in which I am teaching.

Respectfully,

Karen Dodd
