Chapter
5: When Ice Kisses Fire.
"Riku-san
is not feeling well? I understand. Tell her that I hope she gets well soon.
Arigatou gozaimasu.", the red-haired teenager fumbled the phone cord with
his delicate fingers for a moment as he ended the brief conversation with the
Harada twins' mother. Disappointed a little that his intention of having a short
chat with Riku, the elder one of the twins, had been denied despite the fact
that the short brown-haired girl was utterly sick and had to stay in bed until
she was well enough to walk around. The fever she had at the moment was courtesy
of her younger twin, Risa who caught it earlier for a few days before passing it
down to her composed sister and by the looks of it, Daisuke made a conclusion
that Riku wouldn't be able to attend the funfair that night, unlike Risa, who
practically agreed to be Takeshi's date. The redhead merely laughed nervously at
the thought before the alarm of his mother's voice startled his whole attention.
"Who
did you call, Dai-chan?", Emiko asked as she poked her head through the
kitchen door, having the slightest anxiousness in the tone of her voice. A few
strands of her soft blood red hair slid over her slim shoulders.
"Riku-san.
Her mother said she wasn't feeling well.", Daisuke answered with a light
smile as he stretched a little out of boredom. His small white pet, With had
reverted back into its normal form, sort of a cross between a puppy and a bunny
and it purposely clung itself onto its master's dark violet shirt playfully
while nibbling the end of the soft fabric.
"Oh
well, you can always take your time. Dark will be stealing the Love Ring at
9:00pm. There's plenty of time, Dai-chan! It's only 5:00pm!", his childish
mother exclaimed as she pointed towards the huge grandfather's clock that
remained anciently in the dining hall, not that far from Daisuke. The
fourteen-year-old observed the round face and the arrows that tend to move
according to the seconds that past without warning with pondering ruby red eyes.
"...It's
okay, okaa-san. I'm going early.", the redhead informed as he turned
towards his mother with a reassuring smile. With clambered up its master's head
and rested itself on Daisuke's soft red hair.
"Huh?
Who are you going with? You didn't tell me you've got a date, Dai-chan! Who's
the lucky lady?", Emiko beamed with bright sparkling red eyes as she
anxiously raced towards her semi-shocked son who was staring back at her with a
perplexed look on his face and a huge sweatdrop to match.
"Geh...N--No!
It's not--", Daisuke stammered in protest while waving both of his hands in
front of him to convince his mother enough. With peered down at its master who
had a nervous look on his face at the moment as Emiko eyed her son thoroughly
with a little tad of curiosity within her. As his mother, she'd knew that
Daisuke was definitely hiding something from her, but judging by his son's
expression, she'd drop the subject for the day; just this once to be on the fair
side. The phantom thief who had been silent for quite a while interrupted his
host mentally.
\\
Yea yea...It's definitely not, alright. You've got a date with a guy. \\
\
Dark... \
"I
was just...Thinking of sneaking in! Yeah, that's it!", the panic expression
didn't left the red-haired teenager as he laughed nervously and scratched the
back of his head in a timid manner. Dark fell silent again before he implied
briefly in a sarcastic tone.
\\
...Smart way to improvise. \\
\
Like you're any better help! \
"Why
would you do that, Dai-chan? Dark doesn't need an invitation.", the woman
with suspicious gleaming red eyes remarked as she raised an eyebrow at Daisuke's
response. With let out a little muffled 'Kyu~' as it eyed Emiko timidly as well.
"If
I can sneak into a heavily guarded museum at 3 o'clock in the morning, I can
survive a funfair ticket way in.", the redhead responded confidently after
he pushed aside his panic expression which didn't seem to be helping him a
single bit. He gazed into his mother's eyes for a moment and finally Emiko
smiled and gave Daisuke a hard pat on the back, causing the poor boy to choke
back a cough. With fell off Daisuke's head and would land on the cold floor
beneath them if it weren't for the redhead's sharp reflexes in catching his
small pet safely in his hands.
"Suits
yourself, honey~ Don't scratch yourself while climbing over fences, okay? Oh,
and be careful of those police dogs! Some are really nasty! Make sure you won't
dirty your clothes either! That brand is really hard to wash!", Emiko
remembered her son over and over again as she eyed him shrug for a moment before
wearing his raven black sneakers near the main hallway. Daisuke jogged out the
front door and out the gate with his pet furiously clinging onto his shirt, so
that it wouldn't get left behind. His mother waved him good luck from the main
door while yelling a few phrases such as, 'Don't come home too late!' and 'Buy
me a souvenir, Dai-chan!'.
\
You're awfully quiet, Dark... \
\\
Can't I be? I love privacy too, you know. \\
\
That's why it isn't you. \
The
cold late evening air blew softly in a peaceful breeze as Daisuke continued to
walk down the quiet path while scanning his brain to find another subject to
bring up. His red ruby eyes caught sight of a poster which was pinned up onto a
large tree bark not far from where the red-haired teenager was passing by.
\
Do you think that something bad may happen tonight...? \
\\
...No. \\
\
You're not really good at lying either. \
\\
Oh, the heck. I'm not letting anyone hurt you. \\
\
Did that come from the heart, Dark-sama? \
\\
Seriously, Daisuke. I'd rather die than to see you suffer. This case is as good
as done. As long as I'm in control, there won't be any problems, but if I
accidentally transform back into you during the chaos... \\
\
You're really something, Dark. Thanks for the advice. You don't have to worry
about me. \
\\
...You sure? \\
\
I know where my strength stands. \
\\
What if that creepy bastard catches you? Or even worse...What if Krad shows up?
\\
\
...Oh, look! We're here! \
Daisuke
completely ignored his alter ego's question and slowly stepped up to Satoshi's
apartment door. The boy inhaled a deep breath to calm himself down and reclaim
his pounding heart which was getting faster and faster as well as the shade of
scarlet that silently crept across his innocent face. Daisuke nervously walked
around in small circles as he gathered back his courage quickly while With
muffled out curious 'Kyu~'s at the redhead's actions. Finally, the boy paused in
his footsteps and took his pet into his hands before placing the small animal
into his baggy jeans pocket. He sighed confidently and was about to raise his
right hand in a clenched fist and knocked the wooden door lightly, but it
suddenly opened and the redhead's fist met a certain blue-haired boy's chest
instead in a light tap.
"You're
early, Niwa.", Satoshi commented in his usual icy cold tone as he peered
down at his other classmate who looked as if he was about to apologize on
something bad; typical Daisuke. He immediately retreated his hand behind his
back and shifted his gaze aside to fight back the blush that was starting to
crept across his face just like before and he'd really hope that the blue-haired
boy didn't noticed it.
"Gomen
ne, Hiwatari-kun...There's a problem...", the red-haired teenager said in a
slow and uneasy tone. With was starting to wriggle too often inside his pocket,
but Daisuke slipped a hand in to calm his pet down a little, stroking its soft
white fur gently until With calmed down a little. Satoshi gazed at the other boy
for a while before opening the door wider, so that the redhead could enter his
domain. Daisuke understood the message and stepped inside Satoshi's apartment,
at the same time, making sure that he hasn't dropped his guard. Daisuke's job
was to steal while Satoshi's job was to catch him.
Their
status remained inevitable.
"And
what may it be?", the blue-haired boy asked after he silently closed the
front door behind them before he turned around to face Daisuke who was
deliberately blushing furiously as he stammered a little while trying to find
the appropriate words to begin explaining.
"It's--It's--It's--"
"The
image of two guys going in at the same time is literally bugging you?",
Satoshi raised an eyebrow as he casually leaned against the door behind his
back, having both of his hands crossed in front of his chest. Silence brew the
certain area for quite some time before the red-haired teenager made an attempt
to nod slightly at his classmate's remark.
"...Un.",
Daisuke confessed as he lowered his head in embarrassment. Satoshi couldn't help
himself, but flashed a teasing smirk at the redhead's reaction. For some
particular reason, the fourteen-year-old had always amused him in any way
possible and the spark of fire that reflected the innocent boy never failed to
melt a part of his heart. It was quite unusual for Satoshi because he had never
experience this unknown feeling before; not until he met Daisuke.
"Thought
so. Saa na.", before Daisuke could even blink, Satoshi had pressed the
smaller teenager's head down, not too rough and not too gently either, along
with a hair wig which had long delicate dark brown locks, covering Daisuke's
blood red ones.
"Ee...?
This...A wig...?", the naive teenager blinked at the sudden outcome as he
peered silently at the few strands which he'd fumbled with his fingers in a blur
manner. He looked up just in time to witness Satoshi nod in response and stared
back at him, but Daisuke was sure that he wasn't looking at him as cold as
before. With made a light struggle for it could hear every single conversation
the both of them were in and it didn't like the sound in the blue-haired boy's
tone at all.
"I
won't be needing it tonight. You do.", Satoshi announced as he playfully
leaned in closer and gently placed an index finger onto the redhead's cute nose
which instinctively made a dash of crimson crept across Daisuke's innocent face
once more. The blue-haired boy pulled back in a casual manner and paused to
witness the other boy's reaction while running his hand through his own hair.
"Ch--Chotto!
Are you saying that I have to go in a drag?!", the smaller teenager began
to blush furiously as the message slowly got to his mind. The frightening image
of him going out in a drag started whirling around his head as the thought
haunted him over and over again until Daisuke was starting to turn pale. Satoshi
noticed the clear difference within the redhead and shrugged slightly from the
outcome.
"If
you put it that way.", he replied bluntly.
"It's
not--No! I--I can't do that!", Daisuke was stammering again. He mentally
scolded himself for being so out of confidence for the whole day today, ignoring
a disturbing Dark in the corner of his mind who was deliberately laughing his
head off at the very comment his alter ego suggested earlier.
"Then
there won't be any action tonight because every creak and hole will be tightly
secured.", Satoshi told his smaller classmate, almost in a warning tone.
Not that he wanted to scare the living daylights out of Daisuke, but it'll make
his job easier if he'd just carry on with the plan than rather waste amounts of
precious time trying to pry into the heavily guarded situation. He'd knew that
the phantom thief would set his sneaky eyes on the exhibited Love Ring and
gathered the perfect plan to steal it right under the polices' noses just like
he'd did before and had always been doing without ever getting himself caught
red-handed.
But,
Satoshi didn't feel he was being himself at the moment.
He
was usually seriously devoted to his work and aim. Trying hard until finally
he'd see the day that the great phantom thief would be sealed behind bars once
and for all, but then a painful fact hit him all of a sudden; Niwa Daisuke was
Dark Mousy, Dark Mousy was Niwa Daisuke and Niwa Daisuke was his friend.
Or
probably more than just a friend.
"...Just
this once.", Daisuke quivered slightly at his own response. He'd knew what
it felt like to dress up as a girl before due to the fact that his other
classmates have done the honors in stuffing his pitiful self in a skirt just
because of the particular excuse 'Niwa-kun's playing the maiden' during
their last class drama role-play. It wasn't a bad case of bad luck; it was a
nightmare.
"Mmhmm.",
Satoshi nodded slightly.
"...And
no laughing about it at school.", the redhead continued.
"Not
a word.", the blue-haired boy corrected his glasses with a mysterious smirk
playing upon his lips.
"...Promise?",
suspicious ruby red eyes eyed the other boy in front of him uneasily.
"As
good as it gets.", he shrugged once more at the attempt of questions and
demands Daisuke coughed out.
"Geh...",
by the looks of it, the redhead finally decided to give in as he hung his head
with an inward sigh.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The
abandoned clock hanging from the wall beside Satoshi ticked away for the past
half an hour already since the redhead finally gave in and had to dress up in
the blue-haired boy's room while Satoshi waited casually outside of it,
gathering his patience all the same.
"Oi,
Niwa. Do you have any idea that you take more time to dress than any ordinary
women?", the blue-haired boy let out a silent grunt as he stepped up to the
door and gave it a few knocks while awaiting for the redhead's reply.
"Quit
being so pushy! It's not easy, you know!", Daisuke scowled from the other
side of the door. The other boy sighed and retreated back towards the wall and
leaned against it casually. His ocean blue eyes darted towards the clock's face
once more and stared at the arrows on it with a narrowed glare.
Little
did he noticed, Satoshi was actually tapping his foot impatiently at the moment.
Krad took the opportunity to have a little chat with his host to kindly keep him
occupied, even though Satoshi would rather die of boredom than to have a decent
conversation with the blonde.
//
Oh, this is rich. Winged Master in a drag. //
/
What's your problem? It's not you that's wearing a skirt. /
//
I believe I'd look much more better in that, thank you very much. //
/
...You really are a sadist. /
//
And it gets even better. //
"I'm
done...", the sound of the door creak open ended the conversation between
Satoshi and Krad as the blue-haired boy shifted his gaze towards Daisuke who was
now in a light orange skirt and having a vest of the same colour over his dark
violet shirt. The wig he wore was neatly combed and the delicate brown locks
could almost reach his hips, but the fringe was short enough not to fall into
his eyes. Luckily for the fact that Daisuke had the face of a girl made the
situation even more appealing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Has
anyone ever commented that you look cute in a drag, Niwa?", having the
slightest teasing sense in his tone, the blue-haired boy smirked as they walked
along the sidewalk towards the Love Funfair that was located not too far from
Satoshi's apartment.
"...You
promised not to make fun of it.", Daisuke grumbled underneath his breath as
he pushed back a few brown strands over his shoulder which was starting to
bother him since the evening breeze didn't seem amusing. He was glad though for
the skirt he wore wasn't like one of those Risa might've owned; lace free. It
was just a soft cotton fabric, not those tight leather mini skirts, plus he was
still wearing his dark violet shirt with a light orange vest to match the skirt.
"Correction;
we're not in school nor anywhere within the particular grounds.", Satoshi
reminded his classmate as he observed Daisuke from the corner of his eye who
made an attempt to tie back the long brown hair, but let it loose with a sigh
due to the fact that he didn't have anything to tie his fake hair with.
"Geh...Oh,
before I forget...Erm...Arigatou...", the redhead said.
"For
what purpose?", the other boy asked after remaining silent for a moment.
"About
earlier...Erm...My arm...It doesn't hurt as much as before now...", Daisuke
elaborated with a light smile playing upon his lips. Taking Satoshi's word for
it, the boy did say that his arm would get better by 6:00pm that very day and
sure it was, the redhead didn't feel the slightest bit of pain like he did
earlier.
"I'm
glad. Well, we're here.", Satoshi announced as they approached the
particular funfair. The scene was utterly in a busy state despite the fact that
it was the first day of the opening and the exclusive preview of the priceless
Love Ring which was heavily guarded. The place was swarming with people; couples
were seen everywhere, admiring the wonderful display. Rumors had it that whoever
owns the ring will be destined to the one who slips the ring onto him or her,
although it's practically just a rumor though.
Or
was it?
\
Why'd I have to go through this...? \
\\
I believe you have the answer to that. Don't go blaming on me because I'm not
the one who accepted the offer of being another guy's date. \\
\
...I know. Oh well, at least this is better than to go as a guy and get
humiliated as a faggot. \
\\
Mmhmm. Just as long as he doesn't advance on you, I'm fine with it. \\
\
What was that? \
\\
...Nothing. \\
"Yo,
Hiwatari Satoshi-kun! Didn't expect you to come with a date!", a familiar
voice caught their attention and their gaze met the sight of Keiji Saga who was
waving frantically at the blue-haired boy. Satoshi was at the urge of ignoring
him as usual, but if it weren't the fact that they had to get past through him
in order to enter the funfair, Satoshi would've gave him a hard kick in the ass
by now for creating such humiliation in public.
"...Shimatta...",
both Daisuke and Satoshi muttered mentally at the sight of the quite disturbing
boy besides Takeshi who was occupying the ticket counter with a huge grin
plastered upon his face, probably on a part-time job or something.
"Hey,
not bad. Care to introduce her to me?", Keiji sneered as the both of them
approached the ticket counter without saying a word. He winked at Daisuke who
immediately shifted his gaze aside. Satoshi glared at the other boy before he
slammed the counter to get his attention away from Daisuke who was starting to
feel uneasy.
"Two
tickets and shut up.", cold blue eyes glared deadly.
"That
wasn't very nice. How would I know that the both of you are really a couple?",
the boy waved an index finger in front of Satoshi who merely wanted to scowl at
him for being so demanding, but had to retrain himself from doing any harm.
"Just
what exactly are you implying?", Satoshi raised an eyebrow at the statement.
They couldn't just back off now and let the whole thing flow down the drain.
"I
need proof, Hiwatari Satoshi-kun. Proof.", Keiji's eyes had a mysterious
glint to them, but it wasn't a warning to the blue-haired boy either way.
"Ee...Eto...",
Daisuke was starting to worry that their plan wasn't going to work at all thanks
to Keiji's suspicious tone. He could tell that Satoshi was doing some serious
thinking because he remained silent for quite some time as his icy blue eyes
glared at the other boy who was waiting for a response from the both of them.
Even With shifted uneasily in Daisuke's small backpack which the redhead had
brought along with him inclusive of Dark's outfit for later on.
Before
Daisuke could say anything in protest, Satoshi had already advanced towards him
and wrapped a supporting arm around Daisuke's head before he'd gently pressed
his soft lips against the redhead's. The other boy let out a light gasp and
Satoshi took the opportunity to slide his tongue in and explore every inch of
Daisuke while coaxing the smaller boy to response. It took quite some time for
the redhead to give in and kiss back, letting their tongues dueled together for
the very first time.
And
the reason was that he wanted to.
Satoshi
broke the silent kiss and gazed down at the smaller boy in his arms whose cheeks
had an adorable flush to them. A few strands of the dark brown hair from the wig
danced according to the rhythmic breeze. For some odd reason, Daisuke could feel
his heart beating fast and for a second there, he'd thought that he was about to
transform into Dark, but luckily Satoshi had parted the kiss before his thoughts
raced through his mind uncontrollably.
Did
the kiss triggered his transformation barrier?
"Good
enough for you, Keiji Saga?", the blue-haired boy asked coldly at the fact
that Keiji seemed to be enjoying the sight. The boy nodded in response, smiling
in satisfaction.
"Not
bad! Not bad! Here are your tickets and have fun!", Keiji waved at the both
of them after placing the tickets in Satoshi's hand and the two finally had the
opportunity to step into the area with a sigh of relief. Before they entered,
the blue-haired boy silently took Daisuke's hand and intertwined their fingers
together. The redhead was still blushing, but underneath that semi-shocked
expression, he smiled purely because he knew that Satoshi was smiling too.
\\
...I really do hope that you brought an extra typical guy outfit for me
because I am not going to run around in that, Daisuke. Oh, my reputation...
