My Website

Welcome to my website here on Geocities. I discovered recently that Geocities is back. How long it had been back I have no idea. I’m just glad it is back. I was even more thrilled to find out that all the old Geocities, and the old fortune city websites. Have been brought back, and archived. So I crossed my fingers, and searched for my old fortune city website. I was thrilled to find out that it was back.
I was late connecting to the internet compared to some of my friends. Who had been online since 1997. The first time I got personal internet was 2001 when I bought my first PC, and found a whole new world that I had only dipped my feet into before. Ether at the library, school, or a friends house.
One of the first things I discovered was Geocities, and Fortune City websites. My PC came pre-installed with a website building program for Fortune City. So I built a simple website that show cased some of my drawings. I called my website, The Cavern.
I’ve been online for 18 years now, and a lot has changed since then. Yahoo chat is gone, and Yahoo is a shadow of its former self. MSN chat is gone, and most of the chat rooms of old. Put under by the emergence of facebook, twitter, and youtube. The rise of social media has changed our lives forever. In both good, and bad ways.
I can remember when it was still a place that only “nerds” went, and people with "no lives". Then it transitioned at some point to be socially accepted, and now everyone is doing. No one lies about meeting their new partner online anymore. Not like when I first logged on the internet.
See I’m a part of generation X one of the last generations who remember the world without internet, and social media. I witnessed these changes over the years.
Honestly I miss the days of the internet before it was mainstream, and before social media exploded with facebook and twitter. There was way more anonymity back then, and the internet was more mysterious place.
The point of this website is to show some of my art work, but it is also a love letter to the past. Of my early days on the internet. I don’t expect much traffic, or do I care. I’m just having fun building it, and writing this. So who ever happens upon this site enjoy, and I hope you get a kick out of it.
