	Monthly Meetings: Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month. Networking begins at 5:30 p.m. Most are brown bag dinner style. A $2 meetings fee is charges for members, $3 for non-members. A Few Words from Attendees of the
2003-04 California Division Educational Forum
and Annual Meeting*

I have participated in many of these tabletop shows for Office Depot Business Services and never have I met with such a friendly group of folks!

John Alston's powerful presentation on "Stuff Happens (And Then You Fix It): 9 Reality Rules to Steer Your Life Back in the Right Direction" brought home the point that we can better weather life's inevitable changes by being a student of life. Our 'studies' include cultivating a philosophy to help us navigate life, and requires a rudder (choice) and a compass. By concentrating our energy on the five points of the compass, we can adjust our course as change requires it, and still keep on track. The five points on the compass are:
(1) Life is a gift, don't trash it! Appreciate everything.
(2) The greatest gift you have is your mind: solve problems, learn, question.
(3) The goal in this life is to develop skills and give them back. When we give, the world responds.
(4) Be the most decent human being you can be.
(5) Never take people or time for granted.

First of all, I want to thank you for making me feel so welcome at the CDM. The AEF and CDM exceeded my expectations. The speakers were fantastic, the topics relevant and the meeting productive. It seems that the amount of planning that must have gone into the event paid off. What also struck me was the quality of the camaraderie that was in the air. Everyone was genuinely friendly...even though they did not know me. I learned a few things, and above all, I was reminded that the pride that I feel working as an Admin is just as rewarding and valid as if I were performing any other job with more visibility. The Sunday speaker also reinforced in me the belief that there is no substitute for intrinsic motivation and that with a positive attitude with can make a difference in our daily tasks.
