In February of 2002, the Central School Community created the "Hearts of Hope Banner" to show our admiration, respect and support for those who are fighting to preserve our freedom. The banner has over 450 hearts which were decorated by the students, teachers and staff with "heart-felt" messages. On Flag Day (June 2002), the "Hearts of Hope Banner" was presented to State Representative Markey's office to be transported to Washington D.C. for display in the Pentagon. Central School was in turn given a flag that has flown over our Nation's Capitol. That flag, which is now proudly preserved in a display box at the school, was raised with honor at Central on September 11, 2002. (State Representative Edward Markey with Lt. Col Dave Johnson at the Pentagon.) |

| Central School also participated in a program called "Operation Valentine" which encouraged our students to make valentines for our service men and women stationed overseas. The certificate below acknowledges their work and should make us all proud! |
