Regional Championships -- February 4, 2003 - A day that will live in infamy. At the slick-floored Armory, Centennial's hopes were looking dismal at winning a regional championship with Sam slipping in the 300, and Nevin hindered by a serious case of menstrual cramps. After the 2 mile, Centennial was lagging behind with only 13 points to Glenelg's 56. The team then went on a scoring rampage accumulating 26 in the field events, and 18 in the 800 (Nate, Harvey go 1-2). Going into the 4x4, we were 2nd; 1 behind Glenelg, but only 2 in front of Oakland Mills. The race was tense with Oakland Mills and Loch Raven in the lead, with us and Glenelg battling for 3rd. At the final handoff, Oakland Mills had assumed a slight lead over Loch Raven when they fumbled the baton! The mistake resulted in automatic disqualification, and a 5 second victory over Glenelg assured Centennial 1st in the 1a-2a Central Region.

Indoor 1/18 -- Centennial 3rd!? It's not an oximoron any more, just the facts. Hardly anyone could believe that the doormats of the county had managed a third place finish, only seven points out of first and two out of second. 4x8 gets 8:42, jesse breaks 11, and Fritz gets 2:18. The superb performance of the team gives them confidence going into the county meet on the 29th.

Indoor 1/3 -- B team domination was demonstrated in the most quintescent form as the 4x8 team lapped every other team in the race. The all-star mile trio of Nevin, Brian, and Rob all were prempted to disappoint as they all failed to go sub-5. With the aid of a abacus, Hilchey defied all odds as he was able to count his laps in the two mile. This feat has only ben accomplished once this year by that of Nevin.

100 Hits! -- Today, December 28, the Centennial XC website has received its 100th hit. Just like the sub-4 minute mile, and the batting average over .400, the 100th hit is a milestone of great esteem achieved only by the elite. The honor brought upon by this landmark exhibits the hard work and dedication that Brian and Chris undertook, devoting their lives to this remarkable masterpiece.
