The day that I killed this deer started out like any other day. We got up early and went to our stands. My youngest son Robert, went to the stand where I was to later kill this deer. He had with him some fox pee which he desides to spray on some bushes before climbing into the stand. As he proceeds to spray, the nozzle is pointed towards his face instead of away from him so you can imagine the drastic results of this. Needless to say he did not stay on this stand very long. He told us later that it made him sick, so he went to the house. |

Later in the day I had a friend that wanted to have an afternoon hunt with me so we went back to our lease to hunt. I went to the stand where Robert had hunted and brought my friend to the other stand where I had hunted that morning. I was sitting up in my stand when I heard a lot of noise out in the pine timber in front of me, so I thought it might be a deer but I wasn't real sure. I raised my gun, I use a 270 with a scope and I laid it on the window opening. I turned to my left and when I looked back to my right there was a large buck standing in the fire line looking at me. I took careful aim because I could tell he was a good one and then I shot him. He fell across the fire lane but was still alive so I shot him again. I sat there waiting to make sure he would not get up and run off. I finally got down and went walking toward where he was at. When I got there I could tell that he was still moving, so I shot him in the back and then he died. I proceeded to load him on my 4-wheeler, I had him all tied up so I wouldn't hurt the rack. |
